Emily of New Moon by Lucy Maud Montgomery (1874 - 1942).

Orphaned Emily Starr is sent to live at New Moon Farm on Prince Edward Island with her aunts Elizabeth and Laura Murray and her Cousin Jimmy. She makes friends with Ilse Burnley, Teddy Kent, and Perry Miller, the hired boy, who Aunt Elizabeth looks down upon because he was born in 'Stovepipe Town', a poorer district. Each of the children has a special gift. Emily was born to be a writer, Teddy is a gifted artist, Ilse is a talented elocutionist, and Perry has the makings of a great politician. They also each have a few problems with their families. Emily has a hard time getting along with Aunt Elizabeth, who does not understand her need to write. Ilse's father, Dr. Burnley, ignores Ilse most of the time because of a dreadful secret concerning Ilse's mother. Teddy's mother is jealous of her son's talents and friends, fearing that his love for them will eclipse his love for her; as a result, she hates Emily, Teddy's drawings, and even his pets. Perry is not as well off as the other three, so his Aunt Tom once tries to make Emily promise to marry Perry when they grow up, threatening that unless Emily does so, she will not pay for Perry's schooling. Through all this the friends find trust and love, learning how to navigate their various situations. ( Wikipedia and JayKitty76; I'll write a better summary later)

    1. How to claim a part, and "how it all works" here To find a section to record, simply look at point 5. below at the sections. All the ones without names beside them are "up for grabs." Click "Post reply" at the top left of the screen and tell us which section you would like to read (include the section number from the left-most column in the reader list, please). Read points 6. to 8. below for what to do before, during and after your recording.
    2. New to recording? Please read our Newbie Guide to Recording!
    3. Is there a deadline? We ask that you submit your recorded sections within 1-2 months of placing your claim. Please note that to be fair to the readers who have completed their sections in a timely way, if you haven't submitted your recording(s) after two months, your sections will automatically be re-opened for other readers to claim, unless you post in this thread to request an extension. Extensions will be granted at the discretion of the Book Coordinator. If you cannot do your section, for whatever reason, just let me know and it'll go back to the pool. There's no shame in this; we're all volunteers and things happen. Please do not sign up for more sections than you can complete within the two month deadline.
    4. Where do I find the text? Source text (please only read from this text!): https://archive.org/details/emilyofnewmoon00mont_1
    5. Please claim sections (the numbers in the first column below)! If this is your first recording, please let me know under which name or pseudonym you'd like to appear in the LibriVox catalogue. We can also link to a personal website/blog.

DPL checking in. :D
Thanks so much EJ! i'll add you to the first post. Now all we need is an MC  That's why I didn't add the thingy to the beginning of the title cause I thought you might be willing to DPL.

I'm not volunteering - I am MCing the other version in progress, but just so you know, everything in the launch pad is wanting an MC - and continually asking will not make it come quicker :D . Someone will come by sometime that is able to pick it up.

Oh no! I wasn't intending to do that at all. I know the MCs are busy. I hadn't intended to try to continually ask or anything.

The filename for this project is the same as the other IP project- should I change mine? I just don't want it to mix up anything in the cataloguing process.

No, it's fine. Different MC for each project, so it doesn't matter. :-)

Hello! I am new to recording, but not to reading aloud. I would like to do this book, Emily of New Moon, solo, please. The name I'd like to go by is Igonm. Thank you! :)
