It is terribly sad. Beth has passed away. This will be one of her many books, among the last. It is in her honor.
In the mind, or consciousness of the Earth this flower first lay latent as a dream. Perhaps, in her consciousness, it nested as that which in us corresponds to a little thought.--A.Blackwood
It would be my pleasure to adopt BC or DPL for this project to help finish it for Beth.

Lucretia is the DPL. I was going to finish up the BCing for it, but you can. I will add you.

Great. Thanks, Lucretia.

Hi, Chad--I've listened to your recording. Thanks for making the above requested edits. I've got just a few more repeats for you to correct.Horner94 wrote: ↑October 31st, 2019, 7:41 pmThanks for the feedback!Elizabby wrote: ↑July 31st, 2019, 9:24 pmPL notes for Chapter 1:Horner94 wrote: ↑July 8th, 2019, 9:20 am Hello,
Thanks for getting back to me about this.
I have re-recorded this Chapter, amplified it, but did not use noise reduction.
Below is my re-recording of Chapter 1:

I look forward to hearing back from you.
Kind regards,
Chad
@2:04-2:10 there is a cough, click and a repeat which I think you meant to edit out "more leisure to devote to thought..."
@2:49 long pause either side of the word "Anatolian coast" which is mispronounced. I don't usually point out pronunciation irregularities but this is a historical and geographical book, people need to know the region we are talking about. It is "AN-A-TOL-EE-AN" pretty much the way it looks - just watch the order of the consonants.
@3:38 repeat of the word "adjustment/Adjustments"
@4:29 stumble and repeat "contributed enormously to the development of individuality and intelligence"
@5:48 wrong word and then correction "clearest/earliest" (text has earliest)
@6:06 repeat of "below" with a loud cough between repeats.
@6:16 wrong word and repeat " and grape/grapes" (either would have been fine, but not both please.)
@6:40 repeated phrase "the mountaineer gave his chief attention"
@7:21 wrong word and then correction "dry tricky/prickly food"
@8:35 repeated phrase with correction "and everywhere they were the ornament"
@8:55 repeated word "moderate/moderately"
@9:01 wrong word then correction "exit" to "exist"
@9:11 repeated corrected phrase "turning from farming and grazing to materials/minerals"
@10:12 repeated word "Thracian" (the second pronunciation would be my preference)
@11:02 repeated word with long pauses "inferior"
@11:48 messy sentence with stumbles and repeats "another feature of Greece which bore powerfully on character"
@12:04 stumble and repeat "by high mountains/high mountain ranges"
@12:14 repeated phrase "and the north"
@12:40 loud cough
@13:54 repeated phrase "the beauty is not sensuous inviting to eat, drink and/or sleep"
@14:05 repeated word "noblest"
@14:09 repeated phrase "naked, jagged"
Whew! It looks like a lot of notes, but most of these are cuts which you just need to take out.
As an aside, it really is quicker if you do your own editing straight after recording. It is evident from the repeats that you were aware of most of these mistakes as they occurred, so if you cut them out yourself before submitting your file for PL it is much more efficient for everyone.
Here is the amended recording: https://librivox.org/uploads/alg1001/hellenic_01_botsford_128kb.mp3

Section 01:
--At ~3:45 Repeat “…vast systems of cooperative labor—labor”
--At ~6:02 Repeat “…and the chestnut, walnut, and almond—almond do not appear till late in history.”
--At ~9:08 Repeat “…the yield allowed it—allowed a surplus for export.”
--At ~12:06 Repeat “…physical features which act—which acted directly on the mind.”
I'll take another quick look at the final file when you get it uploaded. Thanks!
Kind regards,
