Hi! I'm a new reader and am looking forward to this. I can start at 20 if that works for you. You can put me in as Angela Jefferies. Thanks!

Could you please check the status shown in the MW for my last upload - Section 23? I think that it should have been flagged as Ready for PL and not See PL Notes.

(Unless there is a problem with it that I am missing).

Also:

Section 26 now uploaded:

Duration: 23:11

Cheers

Steve
Thank you.
Thanks for keeping me on my toes, too. The status is on a drop-down menu, and it's easy to select the wrong one (that's my excuse and I'm sticking to it  )

So, I recorded a couple pages of my section and was pleased considering it was my first time. As I listened to it the last time, I noticed I added an ly where it didn't belong. I tried to edit it, and then the words ran into each other. sigh. When we turn these in, will we get them back with corrections like this, will someone else edit that out, or do they let small errors like this pass? I just deleted the whole thing and am going to start over, but I'm thinking I should have asked that question before doing so. Thanks! I'm still excited. :) I just would like to know what to do in this instant, because I'm worried that I may miss something. I had listened to it a few times before I actually caught it.

Hopefully you won't get too many instances where you end up re-recording the whole thing

To answer your questions:
No, no one else edits your sections. It's down to the reader. And the reader can choose not to make corrections that have been suggested (unless they are technical). Just reply to the PL notes that you're not going to change it because...

Secondly, do PLers actually pick it up? Well, it depends  As you had to listen a few times before you noticed, probably not in this case. Most PLers listen while doing other things and are just listening for stumbles and repeated phrases... so if you kept reading smoothly without a stumble, it wouldn't have stood out. And thirdly, only mistakes that change the meaning or don't make sense should be picked up. For standard level proof listening (which is most things on LV), the proof listeners are not reading along with the text, so as long as it all makes sense, you are OK (The example I always give is Text: He drank a cup of coffee. Reader: He drank a cup of tea. Makes sense, so PL OK. Reader: He drank a cup of coal. Doesn't make sense, so not PL OK.) Things are different for Word Perfect -- but there are few of those: religious texts, poetry, Shakespeare and there is currently a project on Supreme Court Decisions. There are some BCs that like WP... you will learn to identify them and if you're not comfortable with that (like the majority of LVers!) just avoid their projects.

So, if you do make a mistake you can't live with, how do you fix it? You don't have to re-record the whole thing! The most you will have to record is the paragraph, and possibly only the sentence. You can then copy and paste it into the right spot and delete the offending passage.

sect 16
PL notes: tech issues
The bit rate should be 128 kbps.
BIT RATE https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l54FyB3wLpA
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K3vfXOVn9Ek&feature=youtu.be

The recording should be in mono sound, not stereo sound.

85.9db is slightly low volume, the LV target range (86–92 dB). Please try to make it a little higher.

Now the good news! Aidan your reading is OUTSTANDING! You captured the accent perfectly. Your voice control between characters was spot on.
You nailed it!

sect 19
PL OK

Beautiful reading!
My only suggestion is about some background noise thru out your reading; it fits in this stormy story. It absolutely does not need to be changed.
However you can check it (16:46) for future reference.
