Overdubbed all of Dred's speech.
RE-UPLOADED Section 46 - the gain was too high.

Uploaded Dred Section 47 Frank Russell's Opinions

https://librivox.org/uploads/triciag/dred_47_hbstowe_128kb.mp3 23:21

Clayton-the-do-gooder is headed for trouble. Frank warns him of Tom Gordon-the-despicable's plan to "mob him" and suggests that Clayton start wearing a gun and a knife like that guy who lives on Wolverton Mountain. (You youngsters will not get this reference!)

PL Notes Section 46, Chapter 45

What a depressing chapter!

2:25 with its funeral wreaths of moss, you say wreath. It is actually a huge pile of wreaths, so seems important to convey it!
3:22 At Dred's first appearance, two long paragraphs, you use a very different voice for him than for the rest of the chapter.
3:27 whose wife they would take for a prey! you say life
7:46 but how stands it with us? you say now
14:50 and solomnly laying his hand, you say something like solumlain
20:32 and I will stain all my raiment (with blood)!, you say strain

I see you chose to save the footnote referencing Souther vs. Commonwealth, to the end of the story (29:12). Perhaps you should mention who the "dark witness" is here (Monday, brother of Sam who was tortured to death by Souther), or splice in the footnote where it is in the story (12:52). I only know about the truth of this story myself because this court case was referenced at length in my other Stowe project, Key to Uncle Tom's Cabin.

PL Notes Section 47, Chapter 46 Frank Russell's Opinions

I think I am hearing Stowe's voice in both Frank's and Clayton's words, laying out and calling attention to the political situation marvelously well. Considering she wrote Uncle Tom, Dred, and Key just a few years BEFORE the civil war, endangering her own life, she was one brave lady! Just two notes:

7:05 The three fifths vote that they get by it, is a thing they won't part with. it is missing.
18:27 he has booked himself for Congress. him is missing

Very dramatic, soulful reading, Michele.

PL NOTES:

21:35 Found: "He that dwelleth in the spirit of the place most High"
s/b "He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High"

23:40.5 found: "I see a man yesterday, and and he tell me "
"and" slightly duplicated an "'n" sound attached to "yesterday" like this :"...yesterday'n, and he tell me..."

section 46 give me fits. It took me over an hour to make all the corrections.
I apologize for the delay.

One problem was that when I recorded these two sections I was in the 4th quarter of a bout of bronchitis. I tried to fit the voices as well as I could. Feel free to refer them back to me if they're not satisfactory.

Thanks Bill. I am going to mark 35 as PL OK. IMHO, nothing you mention misdirects or confuses. I listened to the whole chapter while I was cooking dinner tonight, and please forgive my self-praise, only heard Stowe's words and could not believe I was the one who recorded them so feelingly. She is an amazing artist.

You did a fabulous job of reciting HBS' historical words.
Perhaps my PLing was too strict.
I do want you to know that I do an honest job of PLing...
If I should become drowsy I wouldn't say to myself "Ahhhh, she usually does such a wonderful job, I think I'll throw a PL OK on it and take a nap on the sofa."
In any case, it's the Reader's discretion on how to handle PL NOTES. So, it's no skin off my nose.
Keep on keepin' on!

No Bill, I am always appreciative of an attentive PL'er. You are doing great, and a godsend to me and LV! I hope you will keep on wanting to PL my work. It is time-comsuming to PL, and very valuable to every reader to have someone watching our back.

Section 37, Chapter 36 is uploaded The Evening Star
https://librivox.org/uploads/triciag/dred_37_hbstowe_128kb.mp3 17:19

This is the last chapter that I had signed up for, but now I see another chapter requiring Nina's presence. So I'm going to claim 33. After that I'll wait and see who comes along to claim chapters, and if any remain after awhile, I'll pick up a few more.
