Let me offer my opinion in the footnote question. I previewed these for sections 1 and 2. The were lengthy, and if read each time cited, would have completely disrupted the poem. Hypatia, thanks for asking! In general, in LV, we deal with footnotes, parentheses and such things in a case-by-case situation, so some project will ask you to read the footnotes and others will not.

In this case, I agree with Dave (and you), I think for poems the footnotes are quite disruptive anyway, so I think I will add to the first post that we are not reading the footnotes!

Since this would be your first recording, we strongly recommend to any new volunteers that they do the 1-minute test before recording a section. That is to make sure your setup is okay and that the file produced will be within the specifications needed for Librivox. Then you should post your test in this forum (viewforum.php?f=21) and wait for some feedback.

Sorry this took so long; an unexpected work assignment came up. Finished that now.
Would be very appreciative of any technical, or stylistic, recommendations for improvement. Because the poem's words are often in unique combinations, I concluded that individual words needed to be distinct.

Hello, Dave! I finally got around to PLing your section 1. It is PL OK! I think you found a great pace to the reading. I agree with you that, when reading poetry, mainly narrative poetry, it needs to be slower, so that the reader can digest the words and their combinations. I was very happy listening to your reading! I agree the translation is quite readable, that is the reason why I decided to open this project. There are other ancient Greek and Roman texts I would like to have here in LV but I haven't found a translation I think is good to listen to, not just to read.
