The Adventures of Tom Sawyer

This project is now complete! All audio files can now be found on the catalog page for this project: https://librivox.org/the-adventures-of-tom-sawyer-version-3-by-mark-twain/
An adventure story for children, The Adventures of Tom Sawyer is a fun-filled book that shows life along the Mississippi River in the 1840s. Written by Mark Twain, the book shows masterfully-done satire, racism, childhood, and the importance of loyalty and courage- no matter the cost. (JayKitty76) A note to parents: The Adventures of Tom Sawyer is considered a children's classic, but contains racial slurs which, although "acceptable" in the time and place of the story's setting, will likely offend modern listeners.
    1. How to claim a part, and "how it all works" here To find a section to record, simply look at point 5. below at the sections. All the ones without names beside them are "up for grabs." Click "Post reply" at the top left of the screen and tell us which section you would like to read (include the section number from the left-most column in the reader list, please). Read points 6. to 8. below for what to do before, during and after your recording.
    2. New to recording? Please read our Newbie Guide to Recording!
    3. Is there a deadline? We ask that you submit your recorded sections within 1-2 months of placing your claim. Please note that to be fair to the readers who have completed their sections in a timely way, if you haven't submitted your recording(s) after two months, your sections will automatically be re-opened for other readers to claim, unless you post in this thread to request an extension. Extensions will be granted at the discretion of the Book Coordinator. If you cannot do your section, for whatever reason, just let me know and it'll go back to the pool. There's no shame in this; we're all volunteers and things happen. Please do not sign up for more sections than you can complete within the two month deadline.
    4. Where do I find the text? Source text (please only read from this text!): http://www.gutenberg.org/ebooks/74
    5. Please claim sections (the numbers in the first column below)! If this is your first recording, please let me know under which name or pseudonym you'd like to appear in the LibriVox catalogue. We can also link to a personal website/blog.

Prospective Prooflisteners: Please read the Listeners Wanted FAQ before listening! Level of prooflistening requested: Standard

Please don't download or listen to files belonging to projects in process (unless you are the BC or PL). Our servers are not set up to handle the greater volume of traffic. Please wait until the project has been completed. Thanks!

NOTE: PLEASE DO NOT READ THE SUMMARIES AT THE BEGINNING OF THE CHAPTERS. Thank you!

Once the MC picks this up and puts the MW in it, can they please move it to Readers Wanted: Books? Thanks.

I will set this up for you.
EDIT: OK, the Magic Window is up. I have removed the referenced to ID3 tags since these will be added automatically at cataloging. As BC you should now update the magic window with section names. Since you have been a DPL you should have access to the MW, but here is a short video in case it is new to you. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_cDPSmlTjGM

BTW, I think standard PLing is definitely the best way to go. !

Please ask if anything is confusing or not clear. I am here to help. Here is a flower for starting your first BC project! Image

MW filled in and ready to go. I used the chapter titles from my hardcover book, not the Gutenberg edition (since we won't be reading the summaries anyway).
Thanks!

I don't think that is appropriate. You may omit the chapter headings, but adding text from another book, which may be in copyright and which titles the author did not write, is problematic. If you choose not to have readers record the chapter lead-ins as show in the Contents page, I feel you would need to stick with just Chapter 1, Chapter 2, etc'. My personal preference would be to read the lead ins since this is what Twain wrote and intended to lead off the chapter but you may choose the second option too.
Please let me know if you wish to go forward with one of these options: read the lead-ins or just say Chapter. Thanks.

Oh. I didn't know that. I'll replace that with Chapter...thank you for telling me.
