Hello, attached is the link for section 18. (19 and 20 to follow
thank you,
Racquel
please note, that you mixed up the numbers in your posting! i hope you don't record section 19 twice!

good evening racquel,

and thank you very much for section 19!
:-)
i hope you enjoy reading violet?

as a side-note, which i have to comment:
it is best usage on lv, to post the link with the duration of the recording - what i know, it is regarded "polite" and a good habit, since it saves some time and is easing the use of lv tools a lot (eg. for handicapped people, or people on businesstravels with portable devices, or.. just to mention a few i know of).

but please, i just wanted to mention it for your next contributions:
i entered the data into the mw, already, and i am looking forward to your next recordings :D

cheryl is very fast with pl-ing and we will read her posting sooon, for sure!

thank you once again and i wish you a nice day and cheers,
cheers

hi rosamunde,

are you active on librivox and do you want to read these two sections, still?

hi clare,

thank you for your recording!

edit: please see below, this answer is not correct anymore!

but: section 9 has already been uploaded. you can see it in the so called "magic window" in the first post of this thread.
so, please upload your recording to a collection. unfortunately, i couldn't find a suiting one - @maryann: is there a non-specialised collection at the moment?

addditionally:
you uploaded with the standard-filetitle of the example.
the [##] is a sort of a joker in the examples in the text of the first post and is meat to be erased and adjusted.
please change the "[##]" to "09" in case of uploading it again.
otherwise, the mc has to edit it to be able to keep track of the project!

i beg for your understanding...

also, i invite you to record other chapters of violet - but best would be, after submitting a 1 minute test recording! there you will learn a big deal about standard procedures and it will be clear, what went wrong.

here is our wiki page with a tutorial: 1-Minute_Test
and linked on this page are videotutorials: Instructional_Videos

thanks a lot in advance and cheers,

That's the second time today that I've been called MaryAnn :D
It's important Clare does not upload the file with the correct name, it would replace the correct file.
I'm sorry the file can't be used - we do ask that people claim the file first so this sort of thing doesn't happen, it's a pity but there isn't anywhere else we could use it, It could count as her 1 minute tech test though especially if about 1 minute was uploaded, and it's a good practice run, so once Claire knows the tech bits are OK, she could claim something either here or in another project. The link Clare posted doesn't work, it's probably because # is invalid in a file name

hi again clare,

i think, we can use this thread here for your 1 minute test... also: i listened to your recording, you have read chapter 9 of volume two!
so, section 24 was not claimed by you - but is yours, now!
aaand: thank you for your recording and that you want to read for the public domain! your reading style is very enjoyable, calm, soft but fast. i enjoyed it a lot, i always learn better english when listening pl (pure hope, no evidence given :-) )

but, to explain, how it all works on librivox, as stated above:
- normally, a new reader posts a 1 minute test recording (with a text, especially made for hearing plosives) in the correct forumsection and gets feedback there.
- after getting feedback regarding our tech specs, and so on, we recommend to claim 1or 2 short sections, or a poem
- after your first recording was uploaded (correctly, as with the 1 minute tests) you get a reader page and the pl result (and can claim some more sections, and..)

let us use your recording as a 1 minute test, focus on the tech specs (also, because cheryl is the dpl for this project and will pl it) and look up the tech specs:
i tested your file with the "made for librivox" tool checker and looked it up in audacity.
:!: for this recording, the filename should be: violetosborne_24_ponsonby_128kb.mp3 (your filending has two mp3s, btw)
:!: The bit rate should be 128 kbps.
:!: The recording should be in mono sound, not stereo sound.
:!: we have the standard of 0,5-1 second silence at the beginning of the file ( you breathe there - which is not a problem, but i would recommend to amplify that part to a negative maximum)
:!: our standardized ending silence is 5 seconds, yours is too short and has some ticks (the ending silence you can use for noise reduction, eg.)
the average volume of your file is 86,5 db. we aim for 89db +-3db. so it is in the lower end of our accepted range. and ok, but can become a problem in future recordings.

--> which software do you use? with audacity, we can help you with tutorials step by step, with garageband we have some help here (click me)

please give me feedback: :D
- which software are you using?
- any questions i will try to answer (with the help of others) :-)
--> and if you dont need help and want to upload a corrected version with the correct filename, please dont hesitate to do so ...and we will see :-)

cheers,
cheers

ok, to keep this project together and dont get lost:

- we have a contribution, which doesn't meet our technical criteria. clarekoester posted the uploaded file on 13th of march - are you still interested in librivoxing, clare?
i suggest to save this file correctly, upload it under the correct section number and let cheryl decide, wether we will use it.

- there are various sections to be orphaned, soon (may):
+ sections 20, 21: racquelolea, last active 9th of march
+ sections 17, 18: rosamundekingsley98, last active 3rd of jan.

anne, clare, racquel and rosamunde - if you have any feedback, i will happily edit my notes according to your wishes!
if no answer appears, i will begin with the tasks in may!

We can change the catalogue name if need be, but as she has only posted once I'll worry about that when it happens.
