Oh, I am sorry, I didn't mean to puzzle you.

I'll work through my backlog as soon as I can; I didn't have so much time as I hoped while vacation :)

You certainly did
Lmnei wrote: June 2nd, 2018, 8:14 pm so some of the inserted words do not sound exactly smooth like I would prefer, however they are okay.
I listened on loudspeakers, so I didn't catch the finer things; on the speakers they were totally ok :)

Kathleen,
Section 10 - Debussy and 13 - Elgar - are PL ok, too. Now I must have a look at the Nocturnes :) Using the voice as instrument sounds too intriguing to me. The only thing is, what happened to the soundfile on section 10?! Your nice and confident reading certainly deserves better than that strange sound! :hmm: It wasn't as bad on the loudspeakers though and in any case it was well understandable, so I marked it ok :)

Section 6 ready for PL :)

In the footnote about Thomas Heywood is written that he died about 1850; this can't be possible if he wrote something in 1624 and lived in the 17th century :) I altered it to 1650; if I missed a policy like Gutenbergs primary rule ("Don't change what the author wrote!") please tell me, I have the 1850 in my raw file in as well :)

I'll try and listen later. As for the footnote... I think I would have left it out rather than change it. As you, say, leaving it as 1850 would have been confusing :hmm:

I thought it to be quite interesting, but if you prefer, I can cut it out as well :)

Thank you Lynne :)

I listened to two more sections:

Section 18, Hadley

Ou, this story about Salome is always quite scary. Isn't that a crazy woman, dancing for a head?

There is only one little pause in 5:54, it is like in--tro--duced. I leave it to you whether you'd like to go over this again, else the section is PL ok and it is not that bad.

Secion 21, Liszt.

Surely a very long one  respect that you could read this so flawlessly! Interesting the part about the Huns; I wasn't aware that Liszt was so thoughtful about religions.

The sound quality is better than on the other files I listened to  Infact there are some really pleasant snippets in there where I hear some noise, but for my ears those snippets sound way better than the other files I got, as the noise is not that bad that it would disturb me. One snippet is for example at 1:10 - the one-hundreth anniversary of goethes birth, one other around 26:00 "At the same time ..." you have wonderful voice there! :9: Do you maybe have some noise-cancelling going on in your system? :hmm: I think a really light brush in Audacity would do the trick :)

There are only some two errors in that huge section:
  • 35:45 "second theme" is missing - ("second theme, Allegro agitato"), all the other themes are mentioned.
  • 47:45 repeat of "the initial", one can be cut out.
If it wasn't for those, I would mark it PL ok right away :)

Two things to consider; as you read the Hans von Bülow really well, even the ü was right, where every other English speaker has trouble with! :, I thought you might want to get those right, too:
  • 21:49 - Festklänge; this word troubled me. As it was translated before, I recognized it though
"
  • 27:50 and 30:10 "Die Ideale", those sound a bit strange :) Translation is "The ideals"
If you'd like to go over those, I have recorded them for you, first "Festklänge", dann "Die Ideale":

Hi Moniqua -

I am going to leave Section 18 as I recorded it as it was recorded with a different mic that is now dead and the new one sounds s bit different when I now patch things in.

So I will consider this PL OK as you suggested.

Found some time to spot check and listen :)

Sections 21 (Liszt) and 26 (Rimsky-Korsakoff) are PL ok  Good work!

Strange Christmas that Rimsky-Korsakoff describes in his suite  I am not quite used to devils on Chrismas Eve... I think I should have a look at his work, Shehezerade also sounds quite intriguing.

Found some time for sections 29 and 30 :)

Section 29, Sibelius:

Very wise people to have more faith in the spoken word than in the sword :)

There were some words I looked up because they sounded strange to me:

1:07 I hear "authorative", word is authoritative
2:47 I hear "charactistic", word is charactaristic
3:10 I hear "imagitive", word is imaginative
5:40 I hear "charistic", word is charactaristic

Section 30, Smetana

Oh, yes, Moldau - I think I have to listen to Smetana again

On 3:30 is a stumble over she has, I hear "she 've has"
this one should be changed, I think.

One suggestion to consider for 3:40 and 3:45: I hear Citrad; Czechs usually speak pretty close to the text I looked pronunciation of Ctirad up and found https://forvo.com/word/ctirad/

Hi Lynne and Moniqua -

Here are Sections 29 and 30 back for Spot PL -

https://librivox.org/uploads/lynnet/storiesofsymphonicmusic_29_gilman_128kb.mp3 - 8:38
https://librivox.org/uploads/lynnet/storiesofsymphonicmusic_30_gilman_128kb.mp3 - 5:04

The edits are not as smooth as I would like however with a new mic that sounds different and the time between recording and editing it is the best that I can do.

Work for me :)

Sorry that real life had me in the claws again  I am doing my best to listen to as many files as I can :)
That's why I tend to claim not too much at a time and keep the old equipment until all files are fixed :) But your new microphone certainly sounds better than the old one

edit: Man, I forgot the most important  - both files PL ok :D
