Hello.

I would like to claim section 2 of Woodcraft Boys at Sunset Island.
Chapter title - What the Trawl Brought Forth.
Reader name - Steven Cross

Would it be possible for me to listen to section 1?... For continuity's sake. If so, how can I access it?
Won't be trying to imitate the voice, but possibly if there are accents, or pronunciation that differs from my own.

Thank you!

Hi and welcome to Librivox!
There are a few things to do before you get started.
You will need to complete a one minute test - this is to check your specs are up to Librivox standards, and if not, you'll be given hints on how to remedy that. http://wiki.librivox.org/index.php/1-Minute_Test
Please post your test in the Listeners Wanted forum (see the dropdown at the bottom of the page) for the speediest response. Waiting for the OK may seem tedious, but can save time in the long run.
You will also need to be added to the catalog of readers. I will add you with the name given. We can also link to a personal blog or website. If you click on your name in the Magic Window, you will see your own personal catalog page.
Be sure to read the first post - all the info you need is there, but if anything doesn't make sense, just ask. The wiki (see the top of the page) has bundles of info too.

In general, we don't like readers listening to other chapters in the book as it puts a strain on our already over-worked servers. However, if you were proof-listening, you would just click on the 'listen' link in the Magic Window. In this case, I would also caution that listening to Marty's rendition might prove daunting... he is very experienced and puts a lot of character into his reading -- far more than most readers, so you would be setting the bar very high. Don't worry, though... it is generally accepted that in a collaborative work, there will be differences in enunciation, accent etc.

PL notes chapter 7

Part of the intro is missing:

"Chapter [number] of Woodcraft Boys at Sunset Island. This is a LibriVox recording. All LibriVox recordings are in the public domain. For more information, or to volunteer, please visit: librivox DOT org"
If you wish, say: "Recording by [your name], [city, your blog, podcast, web address]"
Say:
"Woodcraft Boys at Sunset Island, by May Folwell Hoisington and Lillian Elizabeth Roy. [Chapter 7 Further Adventures at Spruce Island]"

~10:52 Repeated phrase "“One day when he cried with the cold,"

Hi.
I just posted my one minute test. https://librivox.org/uploads/lynnet/test_mmartell.mp3
Let me know what you think.
Also, is it possible to change my user name to reflect the pseudonym Steven Cross? Or would I have to create another account?
Thanks.

Hi Steven.
Your forum name (the name used here) can only be changed in exceptional circumstances, and I cannot do it, nor do I have any say in whether your circumstances are 'exceptional'. You would need to contact Cori.
However, I can edit your catalog name. That is how you will appear once the project is completed and appears in the catalog. For an example of what I am talking about, see a completed project, such as https://librivox.org/the-golden-gems-of-life-by-emory-adams-allen/ Your catalog name is already Steven Cross.

Hi Lynnet.

Here is my "maiden voyage". Sorry it took me so long. This might have been a bit ambitious (lengthy) for my first production.
How long does it usually take to hear back?

https://librivox.org/uploads/lynnet/sunsetisland_02_hoisington_128kb.mp3
Length 23:25

Thank you!
Steven.

Congratulations on your first recording! It varies as to how long it takes to hear back... we're all volunteers here, and have real lives (jobs, school, family etc.), but it is rarely more than a few days. I have been PLing this book myself so far, so will be able to do it tomorrow.
