Section 80! This took me quite a bit longer to do than I expected. Audacity crashed when I was 18 minutes into editing the audio :/ Guess that teaches me to save more often.

I try to avoid voice cracks in my recordings.
To PLers- please correct sloppy pronunciation or weird slurring :/

Hi, I think there was a mistake. The audio I recorded was for section 80, not sections 79- that's currently in the works.

Hi, I think there was a mistake. The audio I recorded was for section 80, not sections 79- that's currently in the works.

OK, that's easy enough to fix! I can't move it right now, but I will move section 79 to section 80, then change the file name to 080. When that is done, then section 80 will be PL OK!

ETA: Nevermind, that was my mistake putting the section down in the wrong spot. I think I need more caffeine this morning, and the other day when I put the section into the MW. Either way, it is PL OK!

There is a line in the text that says "first, the tendency to progressive advancement in organization, accompanied by greater dignity in instinct, intelligence, &c.;"
I am reading the "&c." as "et cetera", not sure if this is the correct way to pronounce that. I've never seen it before.

Yes, et cetera is correct for &c. Why it was done that way in the past, I have no idea, other than the & means "and," then adding a "c" will get cetera. But my logic could be way off the mark, it could be something totally different!

I won't sleep unless I get an answer. So I found an answer. I'd like to share.

et cetera

also etcetera, early 15c., from Latin et cetera, literally "and the others," from et "and" + neuter plural of ceterus "the other, other part, that which remains," from Proto-Italic *ke-etero‑, from *ke-, variant form of PIE root *ko-, the stem of demonstrative pronoun meaning "this" + *etero‑ "other (of two), again, a second time, again," a PIE adjective of comparison.

The common form of the abbreviation before 20c. was &c., but etc. now prevails.
