Jennifer
You shouldn't need to re-record.
By using the Leveler (in Audacity, look under effects), I was able to bring it up to 88.8 dB. https://wiki.librivox.org/index.php?title=Levelling
The bit rate is easy to fix https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l54FyB3wLpA

I think that I have my computer under control again !

Could I please claim section 5.

If this recording is uneventful I should be able to do more sections but do not want to commit myself until I am sure everything is back to normal and I do not cause problems for you all

Cheers

Here is section 5

https://librivox.org/uploads/lynnet/larchwoodsandweir_05_klickmann_128kb.mp3

duration 10.14.

I have great difficulty with this transfer from old to new computer.
I have no idea if this is right or not.

If it is I would love to do more recordings of this charming book but if not I am almost ready to give up.

PL Notes for:
sect 5 Just Outside the Back-Door
1-I hear some background noise, try noise reduction (easy fix).

Note for Lynne:
Please check the bit rate

Jennifer, don't give up, you have a great recording voice & style. This stuff can be fixed.

The bit rate does need to be fixed. We need 128kbps, constant (you have 99kbps, variable). Don't worry: an easy fix, and then it should remain set until you do something to change it 8-)
