Jordan:

May I claim 55, 56, 63, 64? (By the way are you absolutely sure you don't want to hear my mellifluous voice twice on that long title? )

Many thanks,

Philip

If you want to read it twice, go ahead...

And I'll leave it up to you how you read the tables in section 63. It might be best to treat them as illustrations, and skip over them.

Hello, Jordan:

I have both Sections 63 and 64 in the editing process, but I thought, if you wouldn't mind listening to a couple of rough sections on how I read the tables in Section 63.

It is included in this link

https://librivox.org/uploads/xx-nonproject/hooke_tabletest_pdg.mp3

I know the recording is rough, but you can get an idea of what I did and whether that is sufficient for the material.

I should have the edits complete in a few days.

Many thanks for all your help.

Sounds perfect to me. I had two ideas, one to just read each row as it is (which would get confusing, as you'd just be saying loads of numbers), and one to use the heading each time (which would get boring as some of the headings are quite long). Using an abbreviated form of the heading is a good compromise. I look forward to hearing the full thing.

Two notes:

11:46: Repetition of 'On the other side, a descending vapour'.
33:39: 'it always passes between the lines twelve and thirty-four' should be 'it always passes between the lines one-two and three-four'. 1, 2, 3, and 4 are points on the diagram.
