Many thanks,

Here are your notes:
6:09: 'to make many doubtings and tumings' should be 'to make many doublings and turnings'
23:47: I think the 'ly' in 'or ly horizontal' is an old spelling of 'lie', not the letters LY
33:49: 'Doctor Harvey, Doctor Erit, Doctor Willis' should be 'Doctor Harvey, Doctor Ent, Doctor Willis'
Couple of classic keming errors there!

Jordan:
Thanks for your PL. I meant to double check against the html copy of the text before I submitted and just didn't. It wouldn't have helped with "ly"--I just couldn't make sense of it.
And I must say that even though "doubtings and tumings" was not in the text, it certainly added a reckless obscurantism to the reading.
Got a new word for the word menagerie, too "otocousticon."
Sorry for the extra work. The corrections have been uploaded.

PL OK! "otacousticon: An instrument to aid hearing, such as an ear trumpet or hearing aid." Not one I'll be using soon, but interesting nonetheless.DrPGould wrote: ↑February 26th, 2018, 2:15 pm Jordan:

Now that's a well chosen splitting point!
Unfortunately, I do have some notes, so they're not going to end up that close:
6:01-6:03: Repetition of 'as it will indure'.
13:42-13:47: Repetition of 'in the middle of this'.
21:59: 'and yet have only two Refractions provided me a Tube of Brass' should be 'and yet have only two Refractions, I provided me a Tube of Brass'
Oh, and another word for the menagerie: 'Panegyrick', or "panegyric: A public speech or published text in praise of someone or something."

I have uploaded the corrections to Section 3. New duration is 36:43--still not bad for a dividing point. (I guess I could re-read this with the elongated vowels and diphthongs that many people here in Arkansas normally use in their speech....but that might make it longer than Section 2.)
Pangyrick--(love the spelling)...always a good word...I usually use paean myself...but if I need extra syllables.
Thinking about starting an off topic discussion board here for this sort of thing (Maybe call it the Librivox Word Menagerie--I'm open to another title). Have people post words that are unique to their experience that the find in a Librivox reading (or elsewhere). In keeping with out multilingual format...they do not even have to be English words (I think it would be interesting to hear non-English words that don't have a "perfect" equivalent in English--i.e. "oeuvre" from French for "a body of work." Do you think it would attract enough interest?
Thanks so much for your PL. (Hope I got everything corrected ok).

The concluding section on the moon.
So close to the right theory on crater formation from his first experiment, but couldn't conceive of meteors. No vegetation on the moon, but he did get it right about gravity.

0:46: 'Fig. X, &c' is part of the side-note, so doesn't need to be read. i.e. it should be 'though I think somewhat improperly, being rather a vale'.
9:53: Between 'and consequently' and 'and indeed', you are missing 'it is exceedingly probable also, that they are equidistant from the Center of gravitation'

0:22 (not required): In 'Of the Schematisme or Texture of Cork', Schematisme is pronounced SKEE-muh-tiz-um
5:33 (not required): 'certainly discover the Schematisme and Texture even of these films'. Another Schematisme
11:46 (not required): 'have much such a kind of Schematisme' Another Schematisme
As for 54, the volume is too loud. You're at 92.1 dB, and you should be aiming for 89 dB. Also, the ending silence is a little too long. You're at about 6.3 seconds, and you should be aiming for 5 seconds.
Oh, and Philip, another word for you: 'pismire': An ant

Pismire is another good word. My mother has had a significant medical problem crop up (I had to put her in the hospital this morning)--so I'm shelving things like the "word menagerie" for the moment until I see what her needs are. My turnaround time on the projects I've committed to will also be a little slower for awhile. She is expected to make a full recovery at this stage, but they're still evaluating....
I want to read some more of this project as well, but I need to work through what I've already got on the boards before I add anything new.
I do appreciate the word selections you are making!
Many thanks,
Philip
