ok here I am. Having just finished my education on booze, I am taking up your challenge, Ava. I will try to tackle the section on spiders, since that is one species which still gives me the creeps sometimes. It will be therapy to read about them:

52. Observ. XLVII. Of the Shepherd Spider, or long legg'd Spider

Hi Sonia,

Not sure quite what you're talking about, but I've assigned that section to you.

oh sorry...my second April challenge was a chapter on cocktail mixing 8-) that's what I meant. I'm quite changing topics here with your project.

oh maybe you haven't checked out our April challenge thread yet ;)

viewtopic.php?f=24&t=69788

it's all about taking sections which would broaden our horizons, or stuff we haven't tried out yet. Maybe you want to participate too ? Any "area" you haven't tried yet ? Poetry, Drama, the list is endless... :)

I'm interested in claiming part 25 Observ. XX. (Of blue Mould, and of the first Principles of Vegetation arising from Putrefaction, 3223 words).

Hi Duley,

Welcome to Librivox! I see this is your first recording. I have added you to the database, and assigned that section to you.

here is the section about the spider. Quite interesting insights and very strange to find out this spider only had two eyes. I thought they all had six eyes.

Actually, most spiders have eight eyes, not six. However, what he's describing here is a member of the order Opiliones (incidentally, 'opilio' means 'shepherd' in Latin), commonly known as harvestmen, harvesters or daddy longlegs (Thanks, OED!). It's an arachnid, but not a spider.

Anyway...

Just one note:

3:43: IIII is the letter I four times, not the Roman numeral for 4.

ah so that's why it was an unusual Roman writing for 4  all right, correct and re-uploaded. Only re-recorded the part "i i i i etc" for Spot Pl.

49 is PL OK!

For 50, at 0:21, 'Observation 55' should be 'Observation 45' (those Romans, and their silly numbers!)

51 is PL OK!
