With respect to "Belvederes..." I would first read the name and then spell it out and then read has been changed to (and then the new spelling)realisticspeakers wrote:Question on reading:
There is a statement:
"Potowánmeac was reduced to Potomack and then to Potomac..."
read the following "Potomack" [spell out P-O-T-O-M-A-C-K] and then read "and then to Potomac.." and as you suggest, parenthetically say, "without the k"
Should I parenthetically say, "without the k"?
Also, how best to read the following:
and the spelling of nearly all the Belvédères has been changed to Belvidere.
Belair, La., represents the end-product of a process of decay which began with Belle Aire,
With respect to Belair--again, pronounce the word first, followed by spelling it out, and then read the sentence (spelling out Belle Aire) at the end.
I think that would maximize the clarity of the reading for the listener ...
If you can think of another way to do that....I'm open....
Many thanks,
