Folk-lore and legends: Oriental by Charles John Tibbits (1861 - 1935).

This project is now in the catalogue. All audio files can be found on our catalogue page:
https://librivox.org/folk-lore-and-legends-oriental-by-charles-john-tibbits/

The East is rich in Folklore, and the lorist is not troubled to discover material, but to select only that which it is best worth his while to preserve. The conditions under which the people live are most favourable to the preservation of the ancient legends, and the cultivation of the powers of narration fits the Oriental to present his stories in a more polished style than is usual in the Western countries. The reader of these tales will observe many points of similarity between them and the popular fictions of the West—similarity of thought and incident—and nothing, perhaps, speaks more eloquently the universal brotherhood of man than this [vi] oneness of folk-fiction. At the same time, the Tales of the East are unique, lighted up as they are by a gorgeous extravagance of imagination which never fails to attract and delight. (Charles John Tibbits)
    1. How to claim a part, and "how it all works" here To find a section to record, simply look at point 5. below at the sections. All the ones without names beside them are "up for grabs." Click "Post reply" at the top left of the screen and tell us which section you would like to read (include the section number from the left-most column in the reader list, please). Read points 6. to 8. below for what to do before, during and after your recording.
    2. New to recording? Please read our Newbie Guide to Recording!
    3. Is there a deadline? We ask that you submit your recorded sections within 1-2 months of placing your claim. Please note that to be fair to the readers who have completed their sections in a timely way, if you haven't submitted your recording(s) after two months, your sections will automatically be re-opened for other readers to claim, unless you post in this thread to request an extension. Extensions will be granted at the discretion of the Book Coordinator. If you cannot do your section, for whatever reason, just let me know and it'll go back to the pool. There's no shame in this; we're all volunteers and things happen. Please do not sign up for more sections than you can complete within the two month deadline.
    4. Where do I find the text? Source text (please only read from this text!): http://www.gutenberg.org/ebooks/35334
    5. Please claim sections (the numbers in the first column below)! If this is your first recording, please let me know under which name or pseudonym you'd like to appear in the LibriVox catalogue. We can also link to a personal website/blog.

Prospective Prooflisteners: Please read the Listeners Wanted FAQ before listening! Level of prooflistening requested: standard

Please don't download or listen to files belonging to projects in process (unless you are the BC or PL). Our servers are not set up to handle the greater volume of traffic. Please wait until the project has been completed. Thanks!

I will MC this for you Anthony. I will set it up later today. I removed the ~ from the start of the subject line. That is to indicate we need a proof listener but if you're doing it, then we don't need another. :)

At the risk of repeating myself  :
MW is ready for filling in.

I changed the PG link from the html to the target page so people can choose the format they want.

I'll leave this in the Launch Pad until the MW is set up. Let me know if I've missed anything.

Have fun! :)

Hi dzandoesvoice. Thanks so much for coming by and offering to help out! I don't see that you have done your 1-minute test yet so I have to have you do that first to make sure your technical specs are dialed in. Then I can add you as a reader. Pretty simple stuff. I will hold your section for now.

Here is a link to the 1-minute test directions:
http://wiki.librivox.org/index.php/1-Minute_Test

Thank you!
Anthony
