Hi Debbie,

Firstly, I need to point out that you've saved the file at the wrong bit rate and sampling rate (though your one minute test was right...). You've got 256kb and 48,000 Hz when it should be 128kb and 44,100 Hz. I see that you're using Lexis Audio Editor, which I don't use, but in Audacity, you can convert the sampling rate by going to Tracks -> Resample, and the bit rate is set when you export the mp3. If it's recording at 48,000 Hz by default, you might need to change the default sample rate in the settings.

The volume is also a little too low. You're at 85.6 dB, and you should be aiming for about 89 dB. You should be able to amplify it by about 3 dB without causing any clipping.

And here are the rest of your notes:

00:00: Your opening silence is too long. You should have "no more than 0.5 to 1 second of silence at the beginning of the recording", and you've got about 1.2 seconds
02:34: Slight stumble on 'and he again concluded' between again and concluded
06:33: Slight stumble on 'having procured my commission' between my and commission
10:31: Slight stumble on 'I was sure not only of being one of his lieutenants' between his and lieutenants
12:33: 'had also been guilty' should be 'been also guilty' (though 'also been guilty' is fine. You've just got two hads at the moment)
12:40: Slight stumble on 'I am afraid that I was too ready' between I and was
13:08: Slight stumble on 'you will hear further' between will and hear
14:02: 'thinking O'Brien had really out' should be 'thinking O'Brien was really out'
15:16: 'as soon as vessel' should be 'as soon as his vessel'
15:55: Slight stumble on 'to hasten down to us with the pleasing intelligence' between us and with
17:11: 'and that will' should be 'and that the will'
17:31: 'or rather should not say' should be 'or rather I should say'
18:03: 'every feeling has been sacrificed so worldly considerations' should be 'every feeling has been sacrificed to worldly considerations'
18:06: 'an empty name' said twice
18:13: I'm hearing 'set' between 'Virtue' and 'talent'
18:24: Slight stumble on 'When all the ties of nature' between ties and of
19:12: Your ending silence is too short. "There should be 5 seconds silence at the end of the recording", and you've got about 1.4 seconds

I know it looks like a lot, but most of them are just things that need to be edited out. You shouldn't need to re-record the whole thing, just the sections that need to be corrected.

Man, I always feel really bad when I bombard a new reader with notes...
