Hi Piotr,
A lot of things happened since February but I am back. I should be able to mow down the rest of my chapters.
Thanks,
Mike

I would be willing to take sections 16 and 23, to close those gaps in the project.
BTW, I watched DVD #1 of "Potop" last week. Really great movie. I ordered DVD #2. Good practice for my Polish, since it is in Polish with English subtitles.

HI, Jeff! Your recording of chapter 26 is almost perfect!
PL notes: a repetition at 3:00 "Very well, said Kmita"
at around 4:18, text is "It was possible", I hear "It was impossible"
How come you've learnt Polish? is it from your family's heritage or from a language learning hobby? or from an admiration towards Deyna?

Back in the late '80's I was doing Christian missionary work in then communist Poland. The best way for me to get a residence permit was to be a student, and I needed to learn Polish to help my friends there anyway. So I enrolled at Jagiellonian Univ. in Krakow in the Institute for Research of Poles Abroad, which also had full-time courses in Polish for foreigners. So I was there 2 years learning the basics of the language. Then I worked another year at Jagiellonian as a research assistant in Botany. I used to help several academics translate their research papers into English. So I met several professors, and one happened to have a position open.Rapunzelina wrote: ↑May 12th, 2020, 2:02 am HI, Jeff! Your recording of chapter 26 is almost perfect!

After returning to the USA in 1990 I continued studying the Polish language at university, making a couple of trips back to Poland (most recently last summer), and trying to keep the language alive in my mind. Doing some reading in Polish, and watching Polish TV drama programs over the internet.
I corrected the repetition at 3:00. The issue at 4:18 is confusing to me, because my text (from Gutenberg.org) says "impossible." I re-read the text and listened again to the recording...but left it as is for now. There are not more than one texts available are there?

The full sentence in the text is "It was possible to make a protracted defence from them, especially against Tartars, who did not go readily to the attack of such places; but it was impossible for men in them to think of enduring any kind of siege." I was referring to the first instance, but maybe the time-stamp changed after the deletion of the repetition at 3:00, so maybe not exactly at 4:18 after?
