You can tell this is an old book when they have to include a translator's note on how far 5 kilometres is...

Hi guys,

Apologies for the quiet on my end. It has been a hectic month. I probably won't be able to upload another section until after the holidays. I hope you both have a great holiday period!

Hi Ali,

Not a problem. There's no time limit on the recordings.

You have a wonderful holiday period too!

Ok, finally, after a long wait, Chapter 8 has been divided into two sections (9 and 10). These are both PL ready!

Thanks for your patience.

I can see why it took you so long...

Here are your notes:

Section 9:
0:10-0:19: Long gap that needs to be shortened.
58:49: Overlapping recordings. It appears you recorded the ending text separately (presumably after you split this into two), and instead of appending it to the end, it ended up being played at the same time as the last paragraph.

Section 10:
25:22-25:25: Long gap that needs to be shortened.
36:27: Ending silence is a little too short. You should be aiming for 5 seconds, and you're at about 4. Oh, and there's some very loud static as part of it...

Hi Ali,

Are you still working on this? It's been three months without any update, and as it says in the first post, "if we don't hear from you for three months, your project may be opened up to a group project."

Thanks for posting, Jordan. I had my eye on this too. It looks like Ali hasn't been online since June. I'll give her a day or two to respond to you (mostly because I'm working today but off tomorrow!) and then we can change this to a group project if needed.

Changed to a group project, and we are now open for business.

Thanks Jordan for staying on as DPL.

Hi folks

I'd be interested in contributing to this one.

I'd like to start by claiming section 11. the friend of the family, and might pick up some others later depending on how I get on.

This may be my first contribution (depending on how quick another one I've signed up for goes through) and I would like to be attributed as Alice Hastie.

Thanks, Alice
