hi - I'm a newbie, but have had a go at part 1 of the compte project.

so formally I'm requesting it, and if you could put me down for the rest of chapter one - the 4 or 5 sections, I'll get those done.

I'll now try to upload it - then I watch the postings to see comments.

Mark

Thanks maurice. Your user name will be maurice. What display name would you like? You can use the same name or it can be Mark or your whole name or?

Your recording sounds good so I'll consider it your one minute test.

Say: "A General View of Positivism , by Auguste Comte. Translated by John Henry Bridges. Chapter # and title"
3:59-4:02 delete repeat, "there was a..."
4:30 delete repeat, "men"
6:24-6:50 delete silence
9:44-9:45 delete repeat, "tended"
11:40-12:00 delete silence
12:53-12:57 delete silence
14:12-14:17 delete silence
16:32-16:38 delete silence
17:38-17:43 delete silence
19:30 delete repeat, "decline"
21:57-22:05 delete silence
28:09-28:26 delete silence
32:03 delete repeat, "purpose"
36:34 delete repeat, "life"
53:45-57:23 delete silence
57:31-57:54 delete silence
file needs 5s of silence at end

The bitrate of the file is 79kbps not the required 128kbps

hi - thanks for proof listening feedback. Unfamiliar with audacity. (Ah ha, so when I delete stuff it leaves a gap!)

also - realised that previous upload as section one was in fact sections one and two - I misunderstood the sectioning points.

the two addresses below are the large single one previously posted; divided, topped and tailed and hopefully tidied as per previous feedback

PS - for Craig/Soupy - thanks for welcome; "maurice" is my "soupy". Full name Mark Morris - so "handle" as "maurice" sort of annonymises but not in a derridian way.

Interested in etymology of "soupy" - but don't mean to pry

Thanks for the corrections Mark. You're reading sounds very good.

I noted that the upload links had .mp3 twice for all four sections.
https://librivox.org/uploads/alg1001/generalviewofpositivism_04_comte_128kb.mp3.mp3

I deleted the second .mp3 and it still plays. I've asked Amy if it should be reuploaded or not.

Dave will be along to proof for you. I appreciate your help on this project.

Craig Campbell (soupy) - my etymology

Just one more thing needs to be fixed. At the very end of the intro (after you repeat the book title and give the author's and translator's names) where it says [section] you should actually give the Chapter number, Chapter title, and part number (all the information in the title column of the MW) and not the section number. This is not made clear in the initial post, sorry.

My error there in the set-up. It's fixed now.

2, 3, 4
as with section 1, at the end of the intro you need to provide the chapter number, chapter title, and part.
3, 4
the volumes are low (82.7 and 78.1dB, respectively) and need to be amplified by 6 and 10dB, respectively.
