Section 08 is PL OK!

There is an add-in for Audacity (https://forum.audacityteam.org/viewtopic.php?f=42&t=63067) that calculates the gain for the recording and tells you how much you would need to amplify it to get to 89db. It is not exactly the same as the checker app but it is close enough. The one thing you do not want to do is use it to actually adjust your audio level because it will clip if necessary to hit the target. I run it, see what's needed, then use the amplify effect to make the needed adjustments. I have enough dynamic range in my recordings that I usually need to either run compressor or otherwise reduce the amplitude of several loud spikes before I can amplify the whole file without clipping.

I need to send my mic out for service. Can't turn up the gain without getting too much intrinsic noise, & I have to crawl practically on top of the thing as it is right now; prone to subtle plosives, even with a pop filter. May be a few weeks. I'll chime back in when I'm back in action.

Thank you for this recording. I have one comment for your attention:

The checker program measures the audio level as 83.8db, which is outside the target range of 86db to 92db. If you are using Audacity, you can fix this by using the amplify effect. Increasing the amplitude of the entire recording by 3db will put it in range.

Thank you.
