Nothing of Importance by John Bernard Pye Adams (1890 - 1917).

This project is now complete! All audio files can be found on our catalog page: https://librivox.org/nothing-of-importance-by-john-bernard-pye-adams/

Quote:
Fighting in France during the Great War, Bernard Adams, an officer with a Welsh battalion, was moved to chronicle what he saw and experienced first-hand, including the living conditions and duties of officers and “Tommies” (enlisted men) in their dank, rat-infested trenches and behind the lines; the maiming and deaths as well as the humor and camaraderie, and the quiet periods described in official reports as “nothing of importance”. Adams relates his wounding in June, 1916 and its aftermath. The concluding chapter, which he wrote during his convalescence in “Blighty” (soldiers’ slang for England), is an impassioned reflection on war. Following several months of recuperation Adams returned to the front. On February 26, 1917 he was wounded again; the following day he died. (Lee Smalley)

IMPORTANT - soloist, please note: in order to limit the amount of languishing projects (and hence the amount of files on our hard-pressed server), we ask that you post an update at least once a month in your project thread, even if you haven't managed to record anything. If we don't hear from you for three months, your project may be opened up to a group project if a Book Coordinator is found. Files you have completed will be used in this project. If you haven't recorded anything yet, your project will be removed from the forum (contact any admin to see if it can be re-instated).
Please don't download or listen to files belonging to projects in process (unless you are the BC or PL). Our servers are not set up to handle the greater volume of traffic. Please wait until the project has been completed. Thanks!

Great to do another book with you, Ann!

I probably should have listed the author as Bernard Adams rather than his full name. I'll intro it as Bernard Adams, the way it appears on the book jacket.

Yeah, we are up and running! I will move us later today!

I think using just Bernard Adams is fine since that is what the book has for the author's name, plus saying his whole name is a mouthful!

I think people are going to look at the subject line and wonder! (Nothing of Importance here, just keep moving along!)

Thanks, Ann, and we're set for "Going Solo". I'll then be ready to immediately upload Preface (all 5:20 of it).

After listening to it you'll see where the title comes from. IMHO it's a grabber; who wouldn't be curious to find out what it means? :hmm:

I'm sure the title means a lot more than it appears at a quick glance, I can't wait to hear it!

Moving on to Going Solo!

Preface is up, and now I'll be going back to Velchaninoff to see what's going on in his tortured soul. :)

Here's Ch. 1, Ann.

I think the norm for this book will be something like one per week, or even less occasionally while my batteries fully recharge.
