:D Hello icequeen--Ann:
May I claim Chapter 36, "'She is True--Still True!"
:D Jules

Still experiencing with Audcaity? I would like to make the sound a little softer?

Chapter 36 is yours, thanks Jules!

If you are wondering how to change things with your recording, other than to do a noise reduction, here is the link to Phil's videos. He made a bunch of short youtube how-to videos on all kinds of topics relating to Audacity, including how to do all kinds of effects. http://wiki.librivox.org/index.php/Instructional_Videos Check them out and see if these can answer your questions!

Hi Ice-quen
I'd like to claim section 43, The hand of God please.
Not sure if my Kiwi accent would be a distraction for this piece, so let me know.
Cheers
Keir

Hi Ann
thanks - I'll get right on to it. Just a wee question - is there a preferred or do you have a favourite pronunciation site on the web. Acouple of words in the text I need clarification on.
Cheers
Keir

:D Hello icequeen--Ann:
Have completed Chapter 36--"She is true--still true"
The time and URL are as follows:
12;14
https://librivox.org/uploads/icequeen/deathshot_36_reid_128kb.mp3
db- 90.1
Thanks for Phil's Audacity's links. Have tried them before, but still find it mysterious. I will keep studying them.
:D Jules
I hope i have articulated the accent well?

Hi Ann

just wanted to check on a couple of pieces of text which seem to be mis-printed to me.
1: Possibly, probably, almost lor certain, there is no province in all Spanish America without its "Rio Colorado."
- Should "lor" read "for" ?
2: The missions are now in a state of
decadence, their buildings fast falling into decay; while the red man, disgusted at the attempt to enslave, under the clock of Christianising him, has returned to his idolatry, as to his savage life.
- Should "clock" read "cloak" ?

Generally, is it ok to correct apparently obvious mistakes like this or....what? :-)

Cheers

Hi Keir,

Thank you for asking that question, because many people are afraid to correct an obvious mistake in the PG texts. Yes, if you find an obvious mistake, go ahead and read the correct word. There are many mistakes in all the texts on PG. They try to catch them all, but many still slip by. (Of course, I find a lot of typos in modern books as well, but that is another rant for another day!) :D
