May I read sections 54 (Jamieson) and 58 (Hart)?

EDIT: whoops - I see 58 claimed above, so just 54.

Thanks, Todd

I'll start with 54, if I may. :)

Some letters have footnotes. Are we reading them?

EDIT: LOL! What a comedy in the past 3 posts! I guess I'll go with 34, then.

claims made thank you :D
We aren't reading footnotes unless they are necessary for the recording, like explaining the meaning of a word or similar . The letters were not written to be published , and the writers would expect the person who received them to know things that may not be obvious to us.

Dear MaryAnn,

I realise this is not the best quality audio recording, but I wanted to post my first attempt at the recording because I have kept you waiting long enough: https://librivox.org/uploads/annise/lettersfromvictorianpioneers_15_various.mp3 Time 21:19

I am aware that there are mispronunciations and repetitions, but I am currently experiencing problems with my Touch Pad mouse and have attempted to fix some of the content, but not all.

Also, I am just realising that I may have accidentally read a footnote, so I will certainly be making a second attempt.

I look forward to receiving feebdack from you.

Kind regards,
Chad

No , that's why I thought it was important to have , for the good and the bad and the ignorant views. The 2 cultures were so very very different they were sure to clash. Makes you wonder if we should explore space I feel,

Thanks for the section :D

Chad,

I've listened to the first couple of minutes of your reading. You're doing a great job with some difficult names and places - this is not an easy read!

I realize you've been having trouble with your mouse, and that can made editing a challenge. Would you please give it a try though. It'll be easier for both of us is you correct what you can before I listen through.

There are a couple of technical issues with your recording.

Your bit rate is 65 kbps variable. We require 128 kbps constant. For instructions on how to change this in Audacity, please go here (there’s also a link to a video which will walk you through it): http://wiki.librivox.org/index.php/Audacity_1-2-3#Configure

Your volume is also on the low side. Our target is 89 dB, with a range of 87-91 dB being OK. Your file comes in at 83.6 db. You can fix that as follows: Open in Audacity and select the entire file (CTRL-A), then hit Effect, Amplify and enter "6" in the "amplification" box. You'll need to tick the "allow clipping" box. It's not usually good to allow clipping (that chops off the top and bottom of your wave forms) because that can cause distortion, but I've listened and don't think it will have a noticeable effect on your file.

So, good start! Please make whatever other changes you need to to clip out repeats and pauses, and then upload your file again and I'll listen to the whole thing.

Hi Anne,

I can take those 3 open sections to try and help finish this off. (17,56,57)

A couple questions:

On page 111 there is a very long footnote, would you like that read?

On pages 300 and 301 there are a bunch of blank spaces where I am assuming parts of the letters were missing. How do you want these read? .... just go from word to word leaving a pause, or do you want me to say something here?
