Hello,
I'm looking for some short chapters of a variety of works and this looks quite interesting.
I'd like to record Chapter 25 if I may.

Welcome to this project (it is indeed interesting!) and to LibriVox Scott. Chapter 25 is all yours to enjoy. Ask if anything is confusing.Kryptonian wrote:Hello,

Ok, just a note (so far) that while I'm enjoying the read I have to say I am struggling with recording the language as written! Still going to give it the ol' college try, but wow. I truly didn't think it would be quite as difficult to lay down as its become. Trying to keep my pace without slowing down too much etc.Kryptonian wrote:Terrific! Thank you. Also, is there a cast of characters anywhere available? I didn't see it here. But jumping in to a chapter without reading the entire book (I've perused some other chapters), I want to make sure of the relationships.
ie: who are Robert and Risely to Ellen and Cynthia?

Robert Lloyd is Cynthia's nephew, who she raised as her son after his mother died when he was a baby. He is the heroine Ellen's boyfriend, more or less. He loves her, she loves him, but they aren't officially dating because of class / caste considerations of the time. Risely is, I believe, Cynthia's beau.who are Robert and Risely to Ellen and Cynthia?
If you do a search on the book in Google Books or Unz dot org, you can find period reviews of the novel to give you more background on the story. Just look it up by title and author. I think it was originally published in 1903.
