Hello Ava,
I’m so glad to see this in Project Launch. I was looking at it just this week and thinking I would BC it this Fall if someone didn’t get to it first.

I can’t commit to DPL but I PLed the Preface for you (from the abandoned folder).

0:04 included the author’s name an extra time in the first line of the intro
Preface of The Practice and Science of Drawing, by Harold Speed.

0:26-0:43 The cover page was read which sounds odd. Suggest deleting it. With 93 Illustrations & Diagrams LONDON SEELEY, SERVICE & CO. LIMITED 38 GREAT RUSSELL STREET 1913 Plate I. FOUR PHOTOGRAPHS OF SAME MONOCHROME PAINTING IN DIFFERENT STAGES ILLUSTRATING A METHOD OF STUDYING MASS DRAWING WITH THE BRUSH

1:23 What was taught was the faithful copying of a series of objects, beginning with the simplest forms, such as cubes, cones, cylinders, &c. (an excellent system to begin with at present in danger of some neglect), after which more complicated objects in plaster of Paris were attempted, and finally copies of the human head and figure posed in suspended animation and supported by blocks, &c.
Sounds like the word was clipped during editing.

Goodness Linny, you really are everywhere!

Thanks for PLing, I have downloaded the file and will look at what can be done with that "after"... The other two remarks seem to be easy to fix.
Cheers, Ava.

Okay, I fixed the preface. The after was really just missing the T. I cut it out from an after later in that paragraph. Sounds a little bit odd, but he's reading fast enough so it won't matter too much I guess.

Interesting also that he didn't read all the French titles after the author's name...

Amazing job on the "after" repair. The Preface is Spot check PL OK.

Have a great project. It sounds like a really interesting one. I might even be back later for a section. :)

I can DPL this for you. I'm not real artsy either, but it's kind of one of those things I wish I could be.

Wonderful, thanks for getting us started jo!

Of course, everybody who enters into this project must answer the question: Can you already draw or do you hope to learn it?

I have taken the introduction myself and to answer my own question: I can't draw at all. I have those wonderful images in my head, but something happens between them and the paper. I am tempted to learn it though.

Yes, I can draw, but I decided long ago that I could never support myself as an artist.

I'd like to read section 3 please.

I can't draw worth beans. Maybe I'll learn something.

I would like a suggestion on how to handle the plates and diagrams. Do I just read the text that references them as if the listener could see them?

The section on vision is yours, thank you!

Please ignore the captions below the figures and diagrams. No point in reading those.
If images are referenced in the text like "... as depicted in diagram X, it is..." then please read it as such. Apparently we get a number of listeners who have the text in front of them, it's nice if they can pause and have a look at the image.

Have fun! :D

I had never thought about line vs mass drawing before. I'm already learning things.
