Thanks for the tip\reminder about the Checker: it was invaluable.Weretortoise wrote: ↑November 30th, 2022, 2:38 pmHi, I've reposted https://librivox.org/uploads/icequeen/whentheywerechildren_24_steedman_128kb.mp3
I think it's OK
If not, would you (or someone else here!) be able to help me get it right? It's a bit trial-and-error at the moment...
Cheers

Hi. I’d like to claim section 40, John Coleridge Patteson, if it is still available. Thanks!

Here is Section 11 for Samuel Johnson. The length is 10:35.
After recording and listening to the entire section, I realized that, on p. 80, the word "spot" was replaced with the word "place". If I need to go back in to fix it, I can.

I'll watch for any PL notes.

I'm sure that it will be fine. I don't follow the text when I listen, and, if a word makes sense, that I won't notice it. Thank you!acousticanna wrote: ↑December 1st, 2022, 11:57 pm Here is Section 11 for Samuel Johnson. The length is 10:35.

Hi! I have a quick question about labeling files.
When naming a file, do we need to include a zero (0) if the number is above 9? I wasn't sure and left the 0 out of my first submissions, but I want to make sure I have the right form moving forward.
Is it whentheywerechildren_32_steedman_12kb.mp3 OR whentheywerechildren_032_steedman_12kb.mp3?
Thanks for your help!

Apologies for they delay, here is Section 20 for Sir Walter Scott (17:42):

It takes a bit longer to record, re-do mistakes, etc than I would have thought for what is essentially just a few pages. Please let me know if there is anything I need to change or forgot to do, as this is my first recording.

The only time we need to add that extra zero (i.e. having three digits in the file name) is when the number of sections goes over 100. Since we are under 100, we only need two digits, so the first that you have it is correct.acousticanna wrote: ↑December 3rd, 2022, 12:18 pm Hi! I have a quick question about labeling files.

Yes, that is very true! Most people who have never recorded an audiobook do not have any idea the amount of time that goes into doing this crazy hobby. I have seen it estimated that it takes 2-3 times the duration of a finished section to record it. And, it is probably longer than that for someone who is new. So, for a 30 minute section, it probably took the person at least an hour to record and then edit. But, it does get better once you develop a routine. Thank you for your section, I will let you know how you did as soon as I can!
