I am the friendly neighborhood Dedicated Proof Listener (DPL) for this project. There are a couple of issues we need to address.
Firstly, I need you to go back and read the instructions for this project. "Please observe that this book uses the common abbreviations for Latin first names. Here is a list of the names and their abbreviations. Please read the name, not the abbreviation: that is, please read "P.Valerius" as "Publius Valerius"."
While you are attending to that, I would like you to have a look at the length of the gaps you left between sections. While a bit of silence between sections is useful in separating sections, listeners get "antsy" at anything over two seconds. You have gaps of five seconds or more at 0:32 and 15:17. Based on your file, I will assume (dangerous word) that you are comfortable with using effects. I use the Truncate Silence effect to shorten all my gaps to 1.5 seconds. You just have to be mindful of maintaining your five-second trailing silence.
After you have made these corrections, please upload the new file using the original file name and then drop a note here in the forum.

My only suggestion would be to keep an eye on clipping for future sections. In section 11, around 16:30, the volume during the speech had some slight clipping, but not enough to require rerecording.
Otherwise, nice job

Thanks! I think that's an artifact of my recording setup; for some reason audacity tends to record at around 82 db or so, and normalization usually gets it to about 85-87, so I used the "amplify" effect to bring it up to around 90db. I think that effect is what causes the clipping.JHedrick wrote: ↑September 30th, 2022, 11:12 amBoth sections are PL Okaynzk13 wrote: ↑September 29th, 2022, 8:53 pm Here they are: https://librivox.org/uploads/leni/historyofrome2_11_livy_128kb.mp3 27:34

Maybe some compression after Normalize, and then use Loudness Normalization. Have a look at: How I Always Hit 89dB With One Click https://youtu.be/aSKR55RDVpknzk13 wrote: ↑September 30th, 2022, 12:42 pmThanks! Just tried that in a new recording for a different project, and it worked perfectly! Thanks so much. I'll definitely use it from now on.JHedrick wrote: ↑September 30th, 2022, 12:49 pm Maybe some compression after Normalize, and then use Loudness Normalization.
