Interesting, I had not known that blacks fought alongside whites in the American Revolution.

Notes: It is mostly just repeated text except for the use of the shortened introduction. It should have the full LibriVox intro.
~1:14 "volume 3, page 400 and..." followed by "volume 3, page 453" please delete first one
~4:38 "November 12th, 17" followed by 4:41 "November 12 , 1779,"
~21:07 "no slaves among them and had released the former owners from the obligation to maintain" followed by
21:13 "no slaves among them and had released the former owners from the obligation to maintain the aged and
infirm"
~21:31 "no slaves are ...1790" repeated at 21:36
~22:09 "side by side...all the slaves" repeated at 22:14
~30:54 "Historical Research , page 149" followed by 3:58 "Historical Research , pages 149-150"
~37:10 "Sectionalism gave...disruption" repeated at 37:14

Thanks,

M
Hello,

This file has been re-uploaded for the corrections. As to your other discovery, you might find this worth some time:
viewtopic.php?t=38822
I downloaded the recording you suggested and have put it in my "to be listened to folder" which unfortunately seems to grow faster than I can listen to them but it does sound interesting. I looked through the list of names and realized I wasn't as completely ignorant as I thought as I had heard of a few of the people.

I listened to the revised section 8 and it is good except that 1 repeat was inadvertently missed.

~21:27 "no slaves are ...1790" repeated at 21:31

Thanks,

M

Just finished listening to the title you recommended. It was quite interesting although the author didn't stick to the revolution. I think my favorite pat was regarding abolition society meetings where some whites would have supported their cause if they hadn't permitted the colored people to attend. Such hypocracy.

May I claim section 17, part 2 of chapter 8 please? And where does section 2 begin in chapter 8? Sorry, I don't see this.
Thank you,
Linda

Thank you both for taking this final chapter. They are assigned. I would suggest splitting the chapter in half on page 182, after the section by Dr. George Buchanan. (almost at the bottom of the page, after footnote 6)

Section 2 would start "To the argument" on that page.

Thanks for letting me know where to stop. I wasn't entirely sure about footnotes, but I did read them in full, along with (hopefully) everything else!

Anyway, here's the section (16):

A few comments on the recording mostly pertaining to not splitting the footnotes, otherwise nicely done.

4:07-4:12 please delete "footnote 1 Address to the heart, on the subject of American slavery, in The American Museum ," as it is repeated later

34:31 missing rest of footnote after "Buchanan, oration" please add "upon the Moral and Political Evil of Slavery, 7-14 ; Tucker, Dissertation on Slavery, 9-11 , 27-30 , 50 ; Imlay , A Topographical Description of the Western Territory , 222 " and delete same from 36:34-36:49

40:02 please add after "225-" the rest of the footnote "226. See also Pinkney , Speech in the House of Delegates of Maryland , 15-17 ; Dana, The African Slave- Trade, 28–29 ; Rice , Slavery inconsistent with Justice and Good Policy, 4-6 ; Buchanan , Oration upon the Moral and Political Evil of Slavery, 7 ; Swift , Oration on Domestic Slavery , 11" and delete same from 41:43-42:07

44:38 please add footnotes 1-6 on last page (p 182)

44:39 please say "end of chapter 8, section 1" instead of "section 16"

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Thanks,

M

You did a nice job with your reading. I enjoyed listening.

There are, however, several corrections to be made. All, except for one, are simple deletions of extra words/silence.

please delete from about 0:53 to 1:59 "Listen to the warnings... you have before acquired" as it was read in part 1.
approx. 18:40-18:42 please delete "as in latter day" as the corrected reading immediately follows
approx. 19:16-19:20 please shorten this silence so it flows naturally. it occurs between "however" and "was regarded" in "Legislative action , however, was regarded as"
approx 21:04, please change "represent" to "resent" in "to resent his own past injuries"
approx. 21:42 please delete " but the establishment " as it is afterwards repeated
28:08-28:11 please shorten silence
about 31:04 please delete slight stumble here between "patriotic" and "aristocracy"

Thanks,

M
