Quick question - When you are recording something this long, do you break it into parts?

take care,
Melissa
Congratulations on your first recording  I will listen in the next couple of days.

How long is “this long”?
You should only split sections if the BC has instructed you to… otherwise it messes the numbering and causes a major headache. We do have a limit of 74 minutes (which I always think of as about 8,500 words, although speed of reading obviously affects this!). I think a 2,000 ish words should be fine. 8-)

BTW, if you find you cannot record in one sitting, it is better to pause than stop a recording. The transition is smoother. But you need to bear in mind the change in acoustics.

Thanks for the tip on the 'pause'. Being a newbie, I noticed my stamina waning and thought it might be easier to read in shorter chunks. I think the more I practice it will become easier.

Thanks also for the feedback on the reading. It was fun! :)

Section 7
The file is too quiet. Please amplify by about 18dB https://sites.google.com/site/librivideo/for-volunteers/recording#6

We need the file in mono. This is in stereo https://sites.google.com/site/librivideo/for-volunteers/recording#8

There is a lot of background noise. Please run noise cleaning (you may need to do it twice) https://sites.google.com/site/librivideo/for-volunteers/recording#11

~0:33 The intro should be
"Section (or Chapter) # of Aniwee: or, the Warrior Queen. This is a LibriVox recording. All LibriVox recordings are in the public domain. For more information or to volunteer, please visit librivox.org." [Optional: "Read by your name."] "Aniwee: or, the Warrior Queen, by Florence Dixie. Section Title."
There is no "translated by..." This was written in English.
~2:04 long pause. Please reduce to less than .5 seconds as this is mid-sentence. Between sentences can be up to 2 seconds.
~3:10 stumble "broke from Harry"
~5:01 - 5:04 Please cut out the footnote and long pause.... it makes no sense here and, even when we include footnotes, we do not enumerate them.
~5:15 Please cut pause before La Ciudad Encantada -- when we hesitate before unfamiliar words, the hesitation needs to be edited out
~5:44-5:47 the same applies
~6:22 stumble
~6:44-6:46 hesitation
~9:19 stumble
~9:49 stumble
~13:14 stumble
~14:22 hesitation
~15:11 hesitation
~18:25 hesitation
~18:50-18:56 Please cut the pause to no more than 2 seconds.

This seems like a long list, but they are all simple edits. I recommend starting at the end and working backwards to maintain the time stamps.
When you have completed the edits, please re-upload with the same file name and post that you have done so in this thread.

I was just reading through Chapter 8 and there is an in-text citation. Should I read the explanation?

Footnotes are optional. If you choose to include them, read them at the end of the sentence, in the format of “footnote…. End footnote”
