Length 15:2.50 (m:ss.ss)

Was more aware of paragraph pauses in editing, hopefully the timing is improved some.
I read this one in a closet draped with blankets to reduce the tinniness coming through the mic.
I will be curious to hear if there is a significant difference in the quality. :D
Chapters 18 and 19 are PL OK. The recording quality is good :)
Female Scripture Characters by William Jay (1769 - 1853) 97% 1 left! "The Penitent Sinner Part 2"
St. Augustine (Vol.6 Psalms 126-150) 94% 3 left!
PL pls: 25-26 DPL 21 43 27-28

Olereads wrote: May 22nd, 2022, 12:18 pm I am interested in reading chapter 14 (Of Determining A Question) and I am not sure how to say (or type out) a word on page 146 that I took a screen shot of but also can not figure out how to paste here. Image

"many difficiles n?, or laborious follies..."
I found it online difficiles nugæ

Link to the page https://archive.org/details/improvementofmind00watt/page/146/mode/2up?view=theater

It's the only obvious tricky one on a scan.
I see Cui bono And I would say as "Quee bone-o" - is that right?
I thought I should ask here, but if it is better to go to the pronunciation threads I will happily head there.
I have googled a few words on how to say them and watched longish tutorials on Latin pronunciation which there is some debate around, so I still am pretty unclear.
There's no wrong answer for Latin phrases. Forvo will often have something helpful.
Do your best with difficiles nugæ. I would pronounce it diff-i-si-less nu-gai but that's just my excentric system.

Okay that's great, no wrong answer works! That site isn't loading the samples just now but I will keep trying, looks like a good resource, thank you.

I'll have a go at chapter 14 then 8-)

Section 10 PL Notes:
Thanks for reading. You have a pleasant clear voice! There were a few points where there were long pauses. I'd say aim to never have a pause longer than 2 seconds.
  • 00:22 Long pause
  • 07:04 Long pause
  • 13:06 Long pause
  • 15:14 Long pause
  • 15:57 Long pause
  • 18:08 Long pause

Thank you for the compliment! Any advice or criticism is appreciated as well. I adjusted those pauses, let me know if there is anything else.

Section 2 PL Notes:
PL OK!
  • 02:39 "Locke" (John Locke) is usually pronounced the same as 'lock'. But since it's a name, it's not a problem unless you would like to change it.
