[COMPLETE] The Art of Music Vol.2: Classicism and Romanticism - kaz
You are right about the sound quality, but it was still better than many others I have heard. PL Okayczandra wrote: ↑January 25th, 2022, 2:13 pm https://librivox.org/uploads/kazbek/artofmusic2_06_tnsm_128kb.mp3

Again sound quality lost a lot of depth through noise reduction to mitigate the music of roof repair hammers!

I asked my librarian about the noise, and she said, "no one would come here
if they weren't allowed to talk out loud." So I read out loud.

Jim and Jake:
I was about to toss my worksheet for section 6, and found a note to myself to ask you about a strangeness in the text. At about 7:35 or so in the recording, as I recall, there's a reference to patronage of a MICHAEL Hayden and a LEOPOLD Mozart. Will you take a look at that and see whether there's a possible error in the text? Thank you.

I'm sure it's right. Michael Haydn was Joseph Haydn's brother and a composer in his own right - just not wellknown nowadays. Leopold Mozart was Wolfgang's father - he was a musician himself and I know him mainly as a writer of a violin treatise.
If you've ever seen the film Amadeus, you see him quite a bit taking the young Mozart around and showing off his talents. He was the 18th Century "pushy parent"
Ah, we're ready to head to Readers Found again. Didn't see it right away this time because the MW wasn't at 100%.
By the way, I remember finding a CD with Michael Haydn's D minor symphony on a library stand back in the 1990s and being pleasantly surprised. I think it may have been one of the first performances of his music to appear on disk. It's a memorable work, somewhat in the Sturm und Drang vein, through not a rollercoaster like the symphonies of his brother and CPE Bach. I just listened to the first movement again and discovered that it was surprisingly fresh in my memory.

The CPE Bach symphonies are some of my favourites

Nicely read.
However, at 8:33 there is a missing paragraph: "It cannot be said that his music is wholly lacking in humor --- and here again we must be serious not to smart with the sting."
Please insert the missing text and re-export the MP3. Then upload using the same file name and drop a note here in the thread.

Excellent job of editing that in. Also, impressive production values overall.

Hello Kazbek et al,
Thanks again for your patience! Here, at long last, is the Section 9, the first of the three sections on Beethoven. I am hoping to have the remaining two sections for you in just a few days.
