Thanks Mark. By the way, I followed your signature and listened to a chapter of your Авантюристы гражданской войны - wonderful, evocative reading of an episode from a fascinating and much-overlooked period. My Russian is not quite fresh enough to always follow along - was this ever published in English?

I'll be in touch with my reading of chapter 29 from the Berkman book.

Should I read these numbers out?
Hello, lightcrystal,
Yes, we are expected to read everything, unless there are other instructions from BC or MC. You may choose to say "part 1", "part 2", etc., but I wouldn't use "section 1", "section 2" because sections have their own meaning in LV.
Here are the Russian words [ a lot of them!] that I would like help to pronounce better
This link should bring you to the recording (let me know if it does not), I also took liberty to add a few more words, HTH:

Hi Matt,

I see you passed the 1-min test, great! There are some technicalities that won't let me assign the section to you (make sure you answered all the question about your catalog name, website, etc.). I requested help, but you shouldn't worry, you may start recording.

AFAIK, Авантюристы гражданской войны was never translated, and, in fact, is not considered a reliable historical document. Richard Pipes, a better historian, wrote a bunch of very readable books on Russian history, including the civil war: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Richard_Pipes#Works . Some of these books exist in audio.

If you wish to practice your Russian, a few years ago I recorded https://librivox.org/ice-march-by-roman-gul/, it was written by a civil war participant.

Thank you! That will help! I have recorded parts 1 and 2. Now I can go back and say these words better before I start on parts 3 and 4. Interesting that I got some of them close from my own efforts.

I've recorded chapter 29, uploaded here: https://librivox.org/uploads/knotyouraveragejo/bolshevikmyth_29_berkman_128kb.mp3

Recording length is 10:50:06.

Mark - I wasn't sure what you meant when you wrote "make sure you answered all the question about your catalog name, website, etc." but please let me know in case there are more steps I need to follow.

Looking forward to your feedback.

Thanks for the upload! I believe Mark is referring to how you'd like to show up in the catalog. It can be your full real name, username, a pseudonym, whatever you want. I think he added you in before getting that information. You can let us know and then I think our MC will have to update it for you.

Thanks for staying on top of this, Mark! I'm in the last week of my last semester of college so I've been a bit busy.

Here is chapter 33:

https://librivox.org/uploads/knotyouraveragejo/bolshevikmyth_33_berkman_128kb.mp3 (17:53)

let me know if I've really botched some pronunciations. I tried hard again, but my tongue is not used to these words at all.

Sec. 29 PL OK
Sec. 12 there is a cough @10:20. Did you try to illustrate the malaria, Xavier? I don't think it's typical though. Anyway, it's not in the text :-)
