The Old House, by Cecile Tormay (1875/76 - 1937), translated by Emil Torday (1875 - 1931)

All audio files can be found on our catalog page: https://librivox.org/the-old-house-by-cecile-tormay/
On a snowy winter's evening, Christopher Ulwing returns to his home, known as The New House for the last thirty years. Settled between the Buda hills and the plains of Pest, on the banks of the Danube, the suburb of Leopold has an abandoned feel, but Christopher has been given the task of restoring the castle, to the chagrin of its current resident, his son, John Hubert. At least little Anne is happy to see him and through her constant questioning, Christopher if forced to dwell on the past as he undertakes the renovation over several years. But strife is on the horizon, with revolution, the breakup of the Hungarian Kingdom and the formation of a new republic. (Summary by Lynne Thompson)

Would it be possible to claim all 19 sections, as a solo reader please?

This would be my first solo project, but I have already completed recordings for parts of 3 projects:
  • The Great Events by Famous Historians
  • Great Men and Famous Women
  • Marie Antoinette and Her Son
Thank you,

Thank you

You only need _01_, not _01_01_
Use the section number from the column on the far left, whatever the chapter says.

Please explain.
Is this section _02_? If it is all part of section _01_, it needs to be in one file. As it stands, this is section 1, I.e. chapter 1 in it’s entirety. It has overwritten any previous submission of section 1. Only files over 75 minutes long cause problems and may need to be broken up.

Hi and welcome to Librivox!
There are a few things to do before you get started.
You will need to complete a one minute test - this is to check your specs are up to Librivox standards, and if not, you'll be given hints on how to remedy that. http://wiki.librivox.org/index.php/1-Minute_Test
Please post your test in the Listeners Wanted forum (see the dropdown at the bottom of the page) for the speediest response. Waiting for the OK may seem tedious, but can save time in the long run. I will just assign one section for now, but once that has been submitted, you will be free to claim any sections that are still open. Your section will be held for 1 month pending your test. Please keep in touch if there is a problem.
You will also need to be added to the catalog of readers. I will add you using your forum name, but if you prefer your real name or a pseudonym let me know. We can also link to a personal blog or website. If you click on your name in the Magic Window, you will be taken to your catalog page.Be sure to read the first post - all the info you need is there, but if anything doesn't make sense, just ask. The wiki (see the top of the page) has bundles of info too.

Proof reading for section 1 (Aur0ra):
Intro to recording is perfect
0.5-1 second of silence at beginning
Said all required introduction notes
No long silences
No stumbles
Perfect volume

Mistake:
(It's at 14 minutes and 12 seconds) A mistake/repeat occurred.

End of recording perfect, said all required notes
5 seconds of silence at the end

Chapter I is split into 2 parts in the online text on Gutenberg. In other titles these usually appear as 2 separate files, which is why I named the file for Chapter I Part I as 01_01. However, as you requested that I should only use 01, I did not use 01_02 for Chapter I Part 2.

I admit I'm a little confused with what is required. Could you advise whether you need me to combine Parts 1 and 2 into a single file for Chapter I, which I can supply once I've corrected the single error in Part I pointed out by the proof-listener, or would you prefer me to re-submit both parts as single file files, using 01_01 and 01_02 in the filenames.

Thank you for your assistance.
