Hi Michael - Melinda Chapter 10 here...there are 2 footnotes, and captions for images. How would you like me to handle those?
Thanks! M.

Hi Melinda,

I'm leaving these to the reader's discretion. Most readers didn't read the captions. For the footnotes, if you feel that they enhance the reading, please mark them by "footnote"... "end of footnote".

Thanks,
Michael

Hi,

Here is Chapter 10. It passed the checker for technical details. I tried to look up pronunciations as I channeled Gertrude Bell. I'll be glad to do pickups wherever needed.
Thanks,
Melinda

This is a delightful reading, and you've done a good job with the Arabic. Just a couple of edits are needed:

1) (37:02, 37:09) "Sherif" is pronounced shuh-REEF. We don't normally comment on pronunciation, but here pronouncing it like "sheriff" is liable to cause confusion.
2) (46:57) Should be "End of chapter ten" ("ten" is missing)
3) There should be 5 seconds of silence at the end (currently <3)
4) There are variation in volume which sometimes are a bit too large for listener's comfort (at one place I measured a 7 dB difference between consecutive passages). The dynamics of your recordings will probably become more even with practice. For now, there's an easy way to level them out in Audacity:

Select the whole track, go to Effects->Compressor, and use the following settings:
- lower the Threshold sliding bar to -20 dB
- check the box "Compress based on peaks"
- uncheck the box "Make up for gain..."
- keep defaults for the other settings.

Audacity will remember these compressor settings for future tracks. After that, with the entire track still selected, please use the Amplify effect with -4 in the Amplification box to reduce the volume by 4 dB.

Let me know if you need more information on how to make these edits.

Thanks!
Michael

Wow, thank you!

Looks like this one accidentally went into Leni's folder. I'll leave a note for Lynne in the MW.
