State of the Union Addresses by United States Presidents (1946 - 1953), by Harry Truman

This project is now complete! All audio files can be found on our catalog page: https://librivox.org/state-of-the-union-addresses-by-united-states-presidents-1946-1953-by-harry-s-truman/
The State of the Union address is a speech presented by the President of the United States to a joint session of the United States Congress, typically delivered annually. The address not only reports on the condition of the nation but also allows the President to outline his legislative agenda (for which he needs the cooperation of Congress) and national priorities. This album contains recordings of addresses from Harry Truman. (Wikipedia)
Source text (please read only from this text!): https://www.gutenberg.org/ebooks/5050

Deadline: Please submit your recording within 2 months of placing your claim. If you cannot complete the recording within this time, please post in the thread to relinquish your claim or to ask the BC for an extension. If your recording is not completed by the deadline, your claim may be reassigned at the BC's discretion.

Claiming sections: Look in the Magic Window below for the list of available sections. Post a reply in this thread asking for the section you would like to record.

New to recording? Please see our Newbie Guide to Recording for further instructions. A quick guide to our required technical settings can be found here. When you post your file, please tell the BC what name you would like to use in our catalog.

Prooflistening level: Special - Please follow text while PLing. I'm not looking for word perfect. The language is sometimes awkward and following the text will help identify errors which the ear alone may not find.
Prospective PLs, please see the Guide for Proof-listeners.

Please don't download or listen to files belonging to projects in process unless you are the BC or PL. Our servers are not set up to handle the greater volume of traffic. Please wait until the project has been completed. Thanks!

I'm a bit unsure of how this entry is to be formatted. As there is just one president being covered, should the author be Harry Truman rather than various? I thought not, as this is part of a larger series, but I could be wrong. Also, I see that previous summaries quote wikipedia, something we don't usually do. Will this be all right in this case?

I'm full on MC projects right now, but to whomever picks this one up: the database entry is already created. It's #18178.

Yeah, just Truman. The other projects with just one president has just their name as author. The ones with more than one list out each president rather than using "various".
Also, I see that previous summaries quote wikipedia, something we don't usually do. Will this be all right in this case?
It's probably not right, but it does follow the precedent. :P

It had already been completed - was that by me? - earlier. It might have been me, when I originally set it up and then discovered that Truman wasn't PD for me.

It was using Linny's section divisions.

Section 4

https://librivox.org/uploads/triciag/stateoftheunion19461953_04_truman_128kb.mp3 (58:36)

There are two faults in the text we are using from Gutenberg. I have supplied the missing data from another source. I hope to point out the missing pieces to Gutenberg in the next day or two.

Section 3

Again, there are missing and confused data in this text from Gutenberg. I have fixed this, but refer the listener to the written text to make sense of one elaborate table which cannot be easily (or otherwise) described verbally.

Tricia, the brief statement referring a listener to the written text in Section 3 can be found at 14:46. I hope you will approve of this. I cannot figure out a way of describing this information in any clear way verbally.

I think I'd refer if it was tagged with "Reader's Note" and "end reader's note", and maybe change "the reader is referred to" to "the listener is referred to". Otherwise I think it's OK.
