Cheers,

Hi Wensdy!
You can find "Rosa Alchemica" here: https://www.gutenberg.org/ebooks/5794
It is longish at about 8000 words, would take around 45-50 minutes, give or take, depending on reading speed.
You can find "The Tables of the Law" here: https://www.gutenberg.org/ebooks/43611
This is a lot shorter.
I haven't read those, so I'm not sure if they would be described as horror, but they appear to have the element of supernatural so they might fit in the collection. You can decide after you've recorded them in which collection they fit best

Hi Rapunzelina,
I have a couple of H P Lovecraft stories to offer, they seem almost to go in sequence: “The Statement of Randolph Carter” and “The Silver Key”:

‘Tricky to get this recording done before we Brits burn effigies of a Catholic French/Yorkshireman and let off masses of gunpowder. Poor old Guido.
Cheers,
Andy

Hi Andy!
Thank you for your offerings! "The Silver Key" was published in 1929 so it can't be included in the collection just now. I feel responsible because I said that www.hplovecraft.com is an acceptable source (as it was for that particular story in question). I should have been more thorough in explaining that it is an acceptable and trusted source in that they haven't changed the text while transcribing it, but we still need to check publication dates for each story (in the "Publication History" section: https://www.hplovecraft.com/writings/fiction/sk.aspx ).
So we can include "The Statement of Randolph Carter" now, or perhaps you'd like to keep both as a set to be included in the collection together in about 2 years (January 2025)?

Ah, I understand fully; I noted that some of his work was also published posthumously. As The Statment of Randolph Carter has been recorded for LibriVox several times, I'll hold onto both and wait for a later date. Thanks for your vigilance It was fun recording them anyway.
Cheers,
Andy

You're most welcome to! If a text can be found at gutenberg.org that's the preferable text source. Here: https://www.gutenberg.org/files/2148/2148-h/2148-h.htm#chap2.20Loganhaven15 wrote: ↑November 6th, 2022, 2:24 pm Hi Rapunzelina,

It's a good idea to do the 1-minute test first to check your recording setup https://wiki.librivox.org/index.php?title=1-Minute_Test

Hello again Rapunzelina, after trawling about I’ve come across another H P Lovecraft tale that has a questionable publication date:
“In the Vault”.
Wikipedia states the following:
After being published in Tryout [1925 issue] the story was submitted in August 1926 to Ghost Stories, a "very crude" pulp magazine that specialized in "true" tales of the supernatural, which also rejected it. August Derleth urged Lovecraft to resubmit the story to Weird Tales in 1931, which finally published it in its April 1932 edition.
The brackets are mine, ‘date taken from the same article:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/In_the_Vault#Plot
Do you have any thoughts on this one?
Cheers,
Andy

Hi Andy! Yes, "first published in November 1925" gets the green light from Librivox
