Myths and Legends Around the World - Collection 12, by Various

This project is now complete. All audio files can be found on our catalog page: https://librivox.org/myths-and-legends-around-the-world-12/

This collection is dedicated to recordings of short mythical or legendary works which are in the Public Domain. The stories tell of legends, heroes, myths, and ancient lore from many different cultures. (Summary by Lynette Caulkins)
Collection 12 is FULL. Please go to Collection 13 for current submissions. :)

Each reader is limited to two stories per collection.
After 12 sections are submitted and approved, we will catalog the collection and make it available to the public.

Here is a list of sources that still have chapters available: Potential Sources for Myths and Legends Around the World *Please note that you are absolutely welcome to use other public domain sources. (In fact, bonus points for finding a new source, particularly if it contains cultures not yet represented on the list!)

New to recording? Please see our Newbie Guide to Recording for further instructions. A quick guide to our required technical settings can be found here. When you post your file, please tell the BC what name you would like to use in our catalog.

Please don't download or listen to files belonging to projects in process unless you are the BC or PL. Our servers are not set up to handle the greater volume of traffic. Please wait until the project has been completed. Thanks!

Good evening everyone!

I have been absent from this forum recently, and I must apologize for it. My work computer that I use for recording unexpectedly suffered some noticeable technical issues, but it is all working now, thankfully.
I can record stories for this wonderful archive once more :D

Before this unexpected issue, I was half-way through completing a short story known as "THE GOLDEN AGE" By James Baldwin, if I remember correctly. This will be complete very soon, and I shall post it in this collection 12 instead :)

Kind regards,

Olly AG

Terrific! Thank you, and welcome to LobriVix!

I've loaded your story. Because I'm out of town, it probably won't be proofed until Friday. I do apologize about that.

I do need to know what name you would like us to use when we make your catalog Reader Page? Some of use our real name, others use our forum board name, and others make up a different psuedonym.

Thank you 😊

Here is the link to your Reader Page: JinShibui

You'll see that it will list all the projects you're a part of, both in-progress and completed. It also has a link to lists of every section assigned for you for recording or proof listening. It's quite handy.

Hello, Ashyia :)

I'm sorry you had to wait while I was out of town.

Your reading is very good, and my only PL Note for you is an optional edit that I would recommend if you feel like doing, but it is not required.

The introduction and ending are much louder than the story itself, so that it's a little hard to hear it when you start the telling. It would benefit from having that portion Amplified. You would not want to amplify the entire track, but first zoom in so you can see the individual second marks, and highlight from 22.0 to 3:09.0 - then select the Amplify Effect, and put a 3 in that top box, hit Enter.

If you choose to make the volume edit for that portion, don't forget to export to mp3 again and upload the edited file. :)

You can either post the upload here, or let me know you rather leave it as is.

Love your contributions!

MaryAnn, we will need an author added for metadata. I did find her on Wikipedia:

Yei Theordora Osaki
