Hello,

I would like to contribute to this project. Following the links provided for material in the public domain, I have chosen:
Asgard Stories: Tales from Norse Mythology
https://www.gutenberg.org/ebooks/37488

Specifically, the chapters "The Punishment of Loki" and "The Twilight of the gods"

Any additional information would be appreciated.

thanks,

Ryan

Welcome to LibriVox, Ryan! And we're very happy to have you as a contributor on this project.

I'll note your choices on that document so folks know the stories are upcoming.

As you move around in LibriVox, you'll find that short-works collection projects like this one are different from "normal" group projects. Usually, you would request a particular section, and the BC would assign it to you in the Magic Window. But in these collections, we don't assign sections ahead of time. We will load your recording into the next available section when you submit the file.

When you record your first story, refer to the main post for this project - underneath the Magic Window you will find directions on what to say to introduce the story, and then to end the recording. It also has info on what to name the mp3 file and what information is needed when you post the link of the uploaded file. (It is a good idea to check this project when you are ready to name your mp3 - just in case all twelve spots have been filled, and the file will need to be named for the next collection. We open the next collection quickly when these fill.)

You are always welcome to submit two stories in each of the Myths and Legends collections. So "Punishment" and "Twilight" would be your two here. When this collection fills, and Collection 12 opens, you are welcome to contribute two more stories. :)

And if you have questions I didn't answer, feel free to ask! I very well remember how my head was spinning when I first started here in LibriVox.

Wow! That was fast! :)

I'm loading this into the MW right now for you. We'll need to make you a Reader Page - do you have a name you'd like us to use? It is what readers see in the Audiobook library. Some folks use their real name, some use their forum working name, and others make up another pseudonym. Let me know what you like for your page.

Like I said, I'm eager to contribute back to the community :D

The name I used in my recording is my real name. Is the Reader Page something I can work on myself? I didn't know it existed.

You wouldn't have been able to do it yourself - thanks for the implied offer to do so. :)

Here is your Reader Page: Ryan Williams.

It will list every project you're a part of, both in-progress and completed. It also has a handy link to tables that will list all the sections that are assigned for you, either for recording or proof-listening. Pretty nice.

Your stories are loaded and queued for PL, which will probably be tomorrow. Thanks for the contributions!

May I record 'The Sprightly Tailor,' from "Celtic Fairy Tales"?
is there a resource that works well for a name or word pronunciation?

Thank you,
Dawn

Sure, Dawn! Welcome to LibriVox - glad to have you onboard!
I've noted on the source list that your story is being done. I don't know of a terrific resource for pronunciation - I always just google "pronounce such-and-such" and hope something good comes up. I do know, though, that the best policy is to figure out what seems the best way to say the word(s), and then record it with confidence, as if what you're saying couldn't possibly be off, so that it sounds natural instead of all hesitant. 8-)

Maybe our MC, MaryAnn knows of something?

P.S. We'll need to make you a Reader Page for the Catalog. What name would you like us to use for that?

I have found a couple of text to speech sites for French ... some of them I can slow down and that helps me more than google, plus some I can pick the voice and some voices are easier for me to hear than others ... I would do a search and see what you can find for Celtic.
