Here's Chapter 21! This is my first LibriVox upload besides the test recording, so I haven't done any noise cleaning or amplification, as I'm curious to know how much of that people think I should do based on my setup. I still have my audacity project, so I should be able to go back and do that as needed.

Noise cleaning is needed on almost every file... I do it as a matter of course. Amplification is not subjective. We need it in the pocket.
FYI, you should never get rid of the Audacity file until a project is catalogued

Well read but unfortunately the order of two tiny words got switched which completely inverts what the sentence says.

At about 7:47 the text reads "who would come to offer for it a ransom". You have "it for a ransom".

Language is fascinating that the order of "for it/it for" gives opposite meanings.

Thanks,

M

You did a really good job. I didn't know it was a first recording until I went to type in my comments from the PL.

I didn't hear a lot of noise as I was listening to your recording. But it never hurts to do some noise reduction on you file before you submit it. As there is one correction to be made to the recording you might want to try a little noise reduction. Highlight the silence at the end and use that as the basis for the noise reduction. Just experiment with the settings and see if you can reduce the background noise a little.

The correction that is needed is to the length of silence at the end. Please add about 2 seconds of silence there to get it to about 5 seconds total.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Thanks,

M

Your recordings are both nicely read. The only issue with them is the length of the silences.

Section 90 please delete over 2 seconds at start so the silence is between 0.5 and 1 second and also remove over 1 second at the end so that there are around 5 seconds of silence there.

Section 91 please delete about 1/2 second of silence at the start and at 4:21 there is a lengthy silence that does not match your other breaks. If you could shorten it up a little, maybe by a second or so, so that it matches your other breaks.

Thanks,

M
Hi, here are my fixes for section 90 (now 4:55): https://librivox.org/uploads/lynnet/storyofgreece_090_macgregor_128kb.mp3
and section 91 (now 5:14): https://librivox.org/uploads/lynnet/storyofcreece_091_macgregor_128kb.mp3

Thank you,
CadenB
Section 90 is PL OK.

Section 91 is still the original file. Could you please try uploading that one again.

Thanks,

M
Hi, super sorry about that, I don't know how I screwed that up lol! Here's the actual edited version of 91 (5:12): https://librivox.org/uploads/lynnet/storyofcreece_091_macgregor_128kb.mp3

Thanks very much! I'll add a couple seconds and some noise reduction then reupload.
