I've completed and uploaded section 7/Queen-Breeding and section 18/Letter From Missouri.

https://librivox.org/uploads/knotyouraveragejo/americanbeejournalsep1870_18_various_128kb.mp3 (length-3:02)

I'd appreciate any feedback as these are my first projects.

Kind Regards,

Kerry
Section 7:
Just one thing to fix: try for .5 to 1 second of silence at the beginning
That's it!
Feedback: At first I thought you were a tad loud. However the sound is within the Librivox dB parameters and I felt like this editorial letter merited it.
Thank you,
Christine
Section 18 Yes! Great Job! PL OK! Christine

Hello,

It was a lot of fun to read! Thanks for the pointers about section 7. I have a couple questions re. volume. When I edit and am in effect: normalization it says "perceived loudness" to "____ LUFS". How many LUFS should I set that to?

Also, is normalization or amplification a better way to adjust the volume? In effect: amplification what should db level be set to and what do you recommend peak amplification db level be?

Thank you so much!!

Hi,

https://librivox.org/uploads/knotyouraveragejo/americanbeejournalsep1870_07_various_128kb.mp3 (length-4:24)

Above is the edited version with a longer silent intro and 07 instead of 7. Let me know if it needs anything else.

Best,

Kerry

Sorry for the confusion but the silence at beginning should be shorter not longer: between one- half and one second only.
Thanks!

Thanks!
I'm returning from vacation 1 in a few days, but will have another in a few weeks.
Fortunately, I have internet access on both these trips.

I appreciate the note. Enjoy! :D

DaveLanzafame wrote: July 27th, 2021, 11:03 am Hello, I'd like to take number 11 to record, please. I'd like to be put down at Dave Lanzafame, and my website is www.davelanzvo.com.

Let me know if you need anything else for me, thanks!
Well, normally we like to have a prescribed test recording, but after sampling your demos, I think we can waive that. Just make sure you have all of our technical specifications down and all of the formatting.

I've added you to the LibriVox catalog and assigned you Section 11.
Just click on your name in the Magic Window to view your personal LibriVox page.
This is where you can track all of your LV projects, of which I hope there will be many.

All the best, and WELCOME TO LIBRIVOX

Well, I guess I should have had you do the test recording anyway, since that is how we check out the technical specs and there are number of issues that need to be corrected which I thought you would see in the instructions. I sampled the recording and it sounds great, but before I post it for a full proof listening, I'm going to ask you to make some corrections.

1) File Name: Please review the instructions in the opening post. It is best to copy and paste the exact format as given. For this project it is: "Filename: americanbeejournalsep1870_##_various_128kb.mp3 where ## is the section number. (e.g. americanbeejournalsep1870_01_various_128kb.mp3)"

2) Volume: The volume is too high and beyond our prescribed limits, measuring 92.6 dB. Our target is 89 dB with an acceptable range of 86-91 dB So, this needs to adjusted down.

3) Silences: As outlined in the instructions "Intro to recording: Leave 0.5 to 1 second of silence at the beginning." "Leave 5 seconds of silence at the end." You have about 7 secs at the beginning and only about 1 sec at the end.

4) Intro and "outro": At the end of the outro we specify "by Various. Section Title." You repeated the section number, instead of the title, which for this section is, "Natural and Prolific Hardy Queens" (I also found the space between the end of the intro and the beginning of the narration quite too long - about 6 sec, which leaves the listener hanging. I suggest 1.5 or 2.0 seconds at the most. Then at the end of the recording, pleas say "End of Section 11" before your personal attribution.

So, please make the above corrections and upload the file with the correct format, post it here along with the file length as mm:ss

EXCELLENT recording!
I look forward to having it as part of this project.

Once you get used to these tech specs and formats you will be breezing along and hope we will hear a lot of your voice here on LibriVox!

Let me know if you have any questions about any of this.
