This is an English translation of the song recorded by Ezwa and Magda. I would suggest putting it right before the song, so that listeners who don't understand French will know what the lyrics of the song are about as they hear it.
I also want to point out that Gustave Masson is the editor of the anthology, not the author of the song. The music (for Pauvre Jacques) was written by Jeanne Renée de Bombelles, marquise de Travanet (1753-1828) and she could be credited for the song. The royalist lyrics are also credited to her in Ezwa's source, but that's clearly wrong. Other sources identify it as a "popular" spin-off of Travanet's romance.
Thanks,
Michael

Thank you, Michael. Please check the title I have placed in the MW to see if it is as you would like it. I don't know if I should have added your full title. Will there be room for this?Kazbek wrote: ↑August 4th, 2021, 6:00 pm

Looks good! While I'm here, the title for section 22 is Le crime du seize octobre, ou Les fantômes de Marly and for 24 it's Louis XVI aux Français.

Thank you! I will catch up tomorrow and double-check everything. We're very close!

No one has taken this up, and Kevin had already approved a second helping for me, so I gave it a try:commonsparrow3 wrote: ↑July 19th, 2021, 6:26 pm I've already done my contribution, but I stumbled across this poem by William Butler Yeats with 'sixteen' in the title.
So perhaps someone looking for a short bit of poetry to record might wish to follow up on it.
