LibriVox Sixteenth Anniversary Collection, by Various

All audio files can be found on our catalog page: https://librivox.org/librivox-sixteenth-anniversary-collection-by-various/

LibriVox is a hope, an experiment, and a question: can the net harness a bunch of volunteers to bring books in the public domain to life..."
Hugh McGuire, LibriVox's founder, August 9, 2005

In celebration of LibriVox's sixteenth anniversay, here is collection of short works of various kinds and from varied authors which include in their title the words 'sixteen' or 'sixteenth' or the number '16.' Each piece is selected and read by a Librivox volunteer.
This year is the 16th anniversary of our beloved LibriVox. The readings in this collection celebrate that "bunch of volunteers" who make up the worldwide LibriVox community. The readings are held together by their connection to the number "16." The collection is multilingual. Readings can be in any language. The selections, which are chosen by the readers, include fiction, nonfiction, poems, short stories, and articles. (KevinS)

GUIDELINES:
1) The reading must have the number "16" or "sixteen" or "sixteenth" in the title or subtitle, or relate to the idea of 16 in some way. All languages are welcome!

2) The selection must be in the public domain. For clarification of what it means for a work to be "in the public domain," please see this section of the LibriVox Wiki: http://wiki.librivox.org/index.php/Copyright_and_Public_Domain. Please stick to works that run less than 60 minutes.

3) Please limit yourself to no more than one contribution per reader. If you would like to contribute a second, please ask first.

4) We will have as many sections as needed. The collection will close at midnight on August 5, 2021 (Your Time.) I know this is a short time frame, but we want to allow time for edits and cataloging. We will enter selections into the MW as soon as possible after the upload is made. To avoid repeated recordings, please announce your selections in the thread.

When uploading your submission, please include:

1. The work's title
2. The work's author (and birth and death dates if possible.)
3. The link to the work
4. Your recording's file name
5. And the recording's length in mm:ss.

"On Reaching Sixteen" by M. Robbins Lampson (1900-) [Lampson not yet in our catalog.]

https://babel.hathitrust.org/cgi/pt?id=uc2.ark:/13960/t0tq5s24q&view=1up&seq=13&skin=2021

https://librivox.org/uploads/lynnet/librivoxsixteenthanniversarycollection_ks_various_128kb.mp3 (1:28)

For those interested: "Myrle Robbins [Lampson] was born February 2, 1900, and is the possessor of marked literary talent and linguistic ability. He is the author of the book entitled "On Reaching Sixteen," now in its fourth edition, and is an intimate friend of the noted educator, David Starr Jordan. While a student at Stanford University he was selected by the Quaker Church for relief work in Russia, and spent twelve months in that country, returning to the United States in January, 1923. He translates Russian with care and has mastered seven languages. He married Miss Bertha Goethe of San Francisco, who was graduated from the language department of Stanford University, and they reside at Hayward, this state."

Nope, not a librarian. In a past job working in a small office, one of my tasks was finding stuff...uh, I mean researching...so I did a lot of that kind of work.

I was also a file clerk...uh, I mean records control specialist.
