Great title! "The Thing in the Truck" sounds like early Stephen King -- a title that would have been at home in the Night Shift collection...

Darius John Granger is a pseudonym used by Stephen Marlowe. Actually Stephen Marlowe started out as a pseudonym used by Milton Lesser. He legally changed his name to his most common pseudonym.

"The Thing in the Truck"
Author: Darius John Granger (PG main page says Stephen Marlowe, but opening the story shows the true author)

Time: 25:27

Also, I've discovered noise reduction since submitting my first story (The Eyes Have It). Can I re-submit it with the noise reduction applied?

Thanks!
Jeremy,

It is completely fine for the same reader to have multiple strories in the same collection.

If you have an improved recording of the "The Eyes Have It" you can uploaded it again (same file name), and I will PL it again. Let me know if it is a complete re-recording or just a technical changes to the first recording.

P.S. I hope to get the "The Thing in the Truck" PLed today.

Hi Jeremy,
At the risk of being redundant as others have commented first,
in some collections there is a limit of how many stories one reader can do, but not in this one. You can do as many as you like.
You can resubmit the story although it is PL ok so there is no need.
Thank you fo the Thing in the Truck!

Hello James thanks for picking one of my suggested stories. You have a good clear reading voice, I hope to hear several more recordings from you.

You have a few issues that need to be addressed. A lot of this is covered in the opening post of the collection, there are links there to help with other issues as well. Can you address and resubmit your recording?

* Recording time listed in your post should be the actual recording time. Currently it 32:54, you listed 21 (my estimate)
* Your file name should be ssf080_halfaroundpluto_wellman_je_128kb.mp3
* The opening silence should be about 1 second you have about 3
* The closing silence should be about 5 seconds you have about 7
* Volume is low at 84.9 should be between 86 & 92
* There are several bump noises in the first few seconds of your intro 3 - 4 seconds, 7 seconds, 22 Seconds. Possibly you are touching the mike?
* There is a word stumble at 28 seconds "Their glassite 'helms' space helmets"
* I did not listen much past here, you will want to listen to your entire recording and make obvious corrections, before resubmitting.

Not required. But for reference.
There is some very light background noise, it not much and is within our expectations. But you may want to consider applying one round of noise reduction

Phil's noise reduction video is here:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x2603zZhUUk
Phil's video on removing a hum:
http://youtu.be/Iz4QvQXkPPI
Maybe these will help.

I'm re-submitting "The Eyes Have It". It's not a new recording - just applied noise reduction and got rid of some other minor noise in the original recording.

Thanks all for the info about Stephen Marlowe. With so many pseudonyms, I wonder what his friends called him?

Hey James!

I think I might finally be having some luck on getting rid of that noise. I tried turning up the frequency smoothing bands and dB reduction really high and I reduced the sensitivity. That didn't work, but I tried turning up the sensitivity this time and I resubmitted my file here. Hopefully the background noise is gone without destroying the audio quality. There aren't any peaks in my Audacity where the background noise by itself was, and I think I got rid of it.

Thanks that works!

It is PL ok.

There is still a faint hum in places but its not bad. I expect as you continue to learn your next recording, will be even better.
