Thanks Sue. I guess no one complained when they were excluded from the yearbook in previous years.

Hi Sue, here is a nice little contribution to this collection:

Light House Illumination - The Electric Light (Lecture)
Michael Faraday
https://archive.org/details/onvariousforceso00farauoft/page/173/

https://librivox.org/uploads/knotyouraveragejo/snf083_lighthouseillumination_faraday_mtf_128kb.mp3 27:57

I had claimed a section of an ongoing project, in this case "On the various forces of nature and their relations to each other", and when I recorded it I realized two things: 1.) Michael Faraday is hardly represented on Librivox, and 2.) this lecture is famous in its own right and should stand on its own in our catalog. So I exchanged my claim over there for a different section, and am putting this one here. I hope you enjoy it. I have got to continue my tour of American lighthouses one of these days. Not sure I can climb to the top any more.

Thanks for this lecture by Tesla, Michele! :D Lighthouse touring sounds fun; what are some that you have you visited?

PL OK!

Edit: Correction: Lecture by Faraday!

I'd have to look them up, maybe a dozen or so along the outer banks (east coast), one in Louisiana, one in Mobile. Just to clarify, the lecture is by Michael Faraday, not Tesla.

Good Morning:

I am so glad to see that, in a hundred years since this was written, we have solved the problem.

Thanks

Hi there, Dale, you're sounding good! Well read, PL OK! And, yes, somethings never change...

"Aren't you tired of seeing Congress, for example, settle national questions (most of which have really nothing to do with the question of party) on party lines? ... Why shouldn't our representatives, and we ourselves, be Americans first and always?"

Good Afternoon:

Who Is Browning?

October 20. 1918

The BAR was used, unmodified from the original design, through the Vietnam war. Browning was probably a genius.

Thanks

Hi Dale, Thanks for this brief look at a pre-eminent American inventor! :D After listening to your recording, I read the Wikipedia article about Browning. His list of patents is testimony to his dedicated craftsmanship. It was interesting to me how he ended up working with the Belgian manufacturer, Fabrique Nationale. In 1897, he broke with Winchester after asking for a percentage of the profit on guns sold, instead of just a single front-end payment for each improved model he invented. Winchester wouldn't give it to him; so, he left Winchester and went overseas with his production! https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Browning

You have one small edit to make, which I mention because it is probably important to gun enthusiasts. At 2:31, the text reads "It [the light machine gun] will fire forty shots in two seconds..." You said "forty-five shots."

Hi Sue:

Absolutely critical, as I don't want comments about the inaccuracy.

I re-recorded and reloaded --

Thank you for your sharp ears.
