This week's poem can be found here.
Project Code: vRcYw67y

New to recording? Please see our Newbie Guide to Recording for further instructions. A quick guide to our required technical settings can be found here. Please tell the BC what name you would like to use in our catalog when you post your file.

LibriVox recording settings: mono (1 channel), 44100 Hz sample rate, 128 kbps constant bit rate MP3. See the Tech Specs

Begin your reading with the abbreviated LibriVox disclaimer:
Leave 0.5 to 1 second of silence at the beginning.
The Dreamers by Theodosia Garrison, read for librivox.org by [your name].
[Add, if you wish, date, and/or your location.]
Then read the poem:
The gypsies passed her little gate—
She stopped her wheel to see,—
A brown-faced pair who walked the road,
Free as the wind is free;
And suddenly her tidy room
A prison seemed to be.

Her shining plates against the walls,
Her sunlit, sanded floor,
The brass-bound wedding chest that held
Her linen's snowy store,
The very wheel whose humming died,—
Seemed only chains she bore.

She watched the foot-free gypsies pass;
She never knew or guessed
The wistful dream that drew them close—
The longing in each breast
Some day to know a home like hers,
Wherein their hearts might rest.
At the end of your reading, leave a space and then say:
End of poem. This recording is in the public domain.
Leave 5 seconds of silence at the end.

Thank you Graham, there is one item you may wish to correct,
at 0:44 I hear 'She watched the free-foot gypsies pass;: the text reads : "She watched the foot-free gypsies pass;"

Welcome to LibriVox Faith, good reading, but you have a number of technical items that need correcting.
- the filename does not meet our requirements (instructions are in the opening post) (there is no way of knowing the file is yours) :wink:
- the file is in stereo, we need a mono recording
- we require a bitrate of 128 kbps, with a sampling rate of 44,100 Hz, yours is 256 kbps 48,000 Hz
- there are 5 seconds of opening silence, we need only 1/2 to 1 second

( we need all the technical stuff to be correct in order to catalog the projects at archive.org)

*the volume is good at 87.9 dB. You can check your volume and other specs using our Checker program - see info at http://wiki.librivox.org/index.php/Checker You will find the volume in decibels on the Information tab. For your information, we look for around 89 dB (87-91 is OK)

Please review all the instructions in the opening post and upload your reading again. :D
