Good afternoon.

I am reading section #66, Quamino Buccan. In the first paragraph, line four, I believe there is an error.

In that line, in which Quamino is describing his return to his old master in New Jersey, it reads "...but in his eightieth year he was informed that his master had sent for him."

I believe it should be, "eighteenth" year. Should I read it as printed, or correct it?

Thanks, Tom Merritt

Good question!
One of the things we like to check when working with a Gutenberg text, is an actual scan of the book if we can find it on Archive.org and I have checked two scanned copies there https://archive.org/details/narrativesofcolo00mottiala/page/256/mode/2up
and they both have "eightieth."

ETA: OK, I think that we have a consensus in this case, that we can make and exception of our usual policy of "read as printed" and can make the correction to read "eighteenth."

Thanks for spotting this and especially for checking.

I've asked our MC for a second opinion, so stand by. I'm coming down on the side of reading it with the obvious correction.

MOST IMPORTANT: The bit rate for this file is incorrect. Even though you've labeled this 128kb it is actually -126 kbps variable. If you are in Audacity, when you export the file, look for the menu for Quality and select 128 kbps

Please post your new file link here and give us the file length as mm:ss
Then I'll mark it Ready for PL and you will have a full report.
