Hello,

Could I please have the following sections?

14 The Missionary Box/He Never Told a Lie
16 An Aged Christian
20 The Slave Shoemaker
38 The Generous Negro
61 Temptation Resisted and Honesty Rewarded

Thank you.

Hello,
I would love to claim the above mentioned sections, if they have not already been assigned.
Thanks.
This is a lot of sections to claim at once, and since you haven't recorded your first section for LV yet, I will start you out with Section 14. If this goes well for you, I will be glad to put you in for some more sections.

Thank you for your interest in this project!

Unfortunately the file name is in correct.
It is always best to copay and paste the file name, and just change the section number. It should be

Filename: narrativesofcoloredamericans_##_mott_128kb.mp3 where ## is the section number. (e.g. narrativesofcoloredamericans_01_mott_128kb.mp3)

Also the volume is just above our lower threshold, so if you could Amplify this by about 2 decibels and then upload it again with the corrected file name, I think you will be fine. (The sample recording I listened to was good). Then I'll put it up for our DPL to give you a full report.

Thank you!

I will correct the file name and reupload it. However, I am confused. I used the Checker software and the recording passed (green). :help:

Yes, it does pass, but, as I said it is on the lower end of the range at 86.7 dB. Our target is 89 dB with a range of 86-91 dB. I mentioned it only because you need to upload the file again anyway, and the amplification would improve the recording, but, since it is in range, this is an optional suggestion.

PL Notes:

Section 9: these are mostly extra syllables that should be removed.
1. At 0:47, there is an extra "and" . Sounds like "and but he and", please remove the first "and"
2. At 1:54, it sounds like a small stutter "while the hu huts...", pleas delete the "hu"
3. At 2:49, is sounds like another small stutter "ev even in his loneliness", please delete the first "ev"
4. The volume is too low. Please amplify the volume of the recording by about 3 dB.

Section 17:
1. At 0:29, it sounds like a small stutter "this is s so", please delete the "s"
2. At about 2:05, it sounds like "mortality" in "prided himself on his morality", it should be "morality"

General comments.
I would recommend running but sections through some noise reduction to cut out some of the background noise. It would also lessen the impact of some of the lip smacks I hear. That is something you should try to watch out for in future recordings.

The volume of Section 17 is acceptable but it is on the lower end of the range. No need to do anything now but, in future, you might want to amplify your recordings a little bit more.

Most of the changes should be relatively easy ones - removing is easier than adding. Please let us know if you have any questions. I look forward to hearing your revised recordings.

Thanks,

M

There are two items that need to be corrected in your recording - both of which are easy fixes.
1. The filename needs to be corrected. You need to delete the "andwood" from the filename.
2. It is asked that if you put in your name, it goes either at the beginning or the end. So please delete either the one at 0:20 or the one at 18:55.

There are no problems at all associated with your recording which was well done.

Simply make those two corrections and repost and you'll be PL OK.

Thanks,

M

And, I bet you can't guess that this recording is going to be PL OK.

You did a very nice job with the fixes. Both Section 9 and Section 17 are PL OK. :)

Thanks,
