Section 35 - Gallipoli

11.01

I wondered if you would want the bracketed parts of the text, which were presumably written by the editor rather than being part of the original report, delineated in the audio recording. Perhaps I could insert 'editors note' and 'end of editors note' where appropriate. :hmm:

excellent editing  thank you so much

There is only one tiny slip in there still in the title of the book:

> at 0:15: "the World's Story" - you say "history". Only that one word to correct and reupload then we are definitely good to go

thanks

Sonia
I've adjust that ;) Hopefully, now everything is fine.

thank you, Jim :9: as for your section...I will not be able to PL it today, but it will be first thing on tomorrow's list. (also Alan's section, thank you both) Huge apologies for the delay !

Here is the edited file. :D
I've had time for the spot PLs though...

thank you, April, but there has been a small mix-up still.

> at 0:09: maybe I was being a bit imprecise, but the correct wording should be all of this: "A modern battlefield, photograph p. 148" (like in the MW). Your version is a bit mixed up and you omit the page number

one more try ?

This is my first time recording, so hopefully I will do well!
Thank you very much!
and a warm welcome to our forum, Matt :)

Thank you for your interest in this project, and I can definitely reserve you section 10 for the time being.

However, before you start recording, we strongly advice to complete a one-minute-test first. This is to check that your technical settings are all up to LV standard.
You can read all about it here: https://wiki.librivox.org/index.php?title=1-Minute_Test
Please post the test in the Listeners Wanted forum: viewforum.php?f=21 and someone will check it and give you feedback or advice if needed.

As soon as the test is ok'ed, please post the results back here, and then I can assign you the section officially. For that I would need to open a personal reader page for you, so please also tell me which reader name you want to go by. Can be the same as the forum name or your real name, or whatever.

For the moment, I will reserve the section for you for one month, to give you time to sort out the test. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask. :)

Good luck with the test !

I passed my 1-minute-test! So that was neat.

Am I able to start recording now for the project?

Also, I will change my username to KuyaCarrot, so is it fine if you could change the spot for me as well?
I will change it as soon as you give the okay, so that you won't be too confused who is asking.

Thank you very much and have a nice day!

yes you are, and congrats on the test.

So, please read carefully through the first two posts before recording, you'll find project specific details on how to read intro/title/footnotes etc and how to correctly name your file. If there are any questions still, don't hesitate to ask.

wait...do you want to change your forum username or simply the reader name ? If it's the forum name, then I would recommend doing that before recording anything, because it's a trickier business later. The reader name can be changed at any time.

I'll hold off on creating your personal reader page until you have sorted this out, please let me know then and I'll open the reader page with your new forum name then. But the section is definitely reserved for you for the full 2 months now.

Have fun

finally got to listen to the rest...two interesting sections, and I think 53 was probably the longest for this project (compared to last project...this is relatively short  )

Thank you so much, Jim. Both are PL ok

no it's fine, we always left them like this, as they are not regular footnotes. I can mark it straight PL ok, thank you so much. Gallipoli was a big disaster and so many lives lost unnecessary :(
