Spring Cleaning of Car is PL OK. It sure is a period piece and I hope every listener gets that and doesn't try to make those adjustments to a car 100 years newer!!!!!

Now if it were me, as a precaution, I would add a few descriptive words to the intro, thus
"a period piece from the New York Times, March 4th 1917", with emphasis on 1917.

Could this piece have been meant as a comedy skit? Spring is prosaic --- but first there is all this drudge work to go through, exaggerating every step. It could be read thus, with the background thought "YOU GOTTA BE KIDDING ME, IS THIS WHAT PEOPLE USED TO HAVE TO DO????". Not that I'm asking you to do that, but it might be highly entertaining.

Hmm do you think I should modify it to make it more clear that this isn't contemporary advice for today? I don't think anyone could follow the steps in a modern car because the equipment is so different. I did include the date of the NYT issue. I just thought it was interesting what any motor-hobbyist was expected to do on his/her own to take care of their wheels! Also the cleaning everything with gasoline, yikes.

Is it TOO prosaic? Should I find something else?

Not at all. I'm just saying I didn't notice the date 1917 at first, and being I know nothing about cars, it could very well have been a How-To Manual on car maintenance, sort of like a You-Tube video equivalent today. I felt silly when I realized it was not current advice. No worries, it pertains and you're marked PL OK.

Lynne, this project is ready to catalog at your convenience. I've tweaked the Summary and the cover is designed as well. I accidentally added 3 extra sections, which you'll have to remove as it appears I can't do that from here.

Sorry Dale, I read your text but don't see any relationship to Springtime in it or I would add it. Please submit to the short story collection.

Also, this project is now being closed at 20 stories. Those extra 3 sections were mistakenly added, and are being removed.
